ZTE U887 is a low-cost 5-inch Phablet for the masses

Tis the season for leaked flagship phone’s, amazing specifications and equally high price tags, but if you are hoping to bag a 5-inch Android phone for a low price in 2013 ZTE have your back!

From our count ZTE have 3 5-inch phones lined for launch over the coming month. First up is the quad-core, 13MP equipped Nubia Z5 which will launch this Friday, then there are rumours of a 5-inch Grand S and now we have the ZTE U887.

Unlike the other two phones the ZTE U887 will be aimed at the low-end market and as such doesn’t get a quad-core CPU, huge mega-pixel rear camera. Instead the U887 has a 1.2Gghz MT6577 dual-core chip, 512MB RAM, 4GB ROM, 2000mAh battery and 5-inch 800 x 400 display.

Despite the low-end specs ZTE have given the U887 a 3 mega-pixel front camera, possibly in the hopes to sell the big screen device as a ‘fashion’ phone.

Now that 2013 Is almost here, I’m more excited about octa-core processors & Tegra 4. I can’t wait to see octa-core Android phones & Android TV boxes coming out of China @ cheap prices.

ZTE U887 seems like a repackaged beidou chi to me. It would suprise me as they did have decent result making U950 with beidou.
