GooPhone have been making their mark on the world of Chinese smartphones thanks to their convincing Apple and Samsung clones. The GooPhone X1 breaks that habit though and focuses on low-price.
GooPhone have priced the GooPhone X1 at just 649 Yuan ($105) for the Chinese phone market, but even at this low price they have managed to include a quad-core MT6589 processor and 4.7-inch display!

To keep costs low the display only offers a resolution of 854 x 480 though and the rear camera is a 5 mega-pixel sensor, but you still get dual-sim standby, SD card expansion, 1GB RAM and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as standard.

Back to GooPhone: I think they are sad/mad because launching perfect clones and not selling so much with their high prices they want, because of some competitors like JiaYu, Dakele, UMI, Neo, iOcean, which are announcing every day fantastic prices around 900 Yuan, new models, spy photos, engineering models.
And GooPhone want to show them who is the boss.
Even with a gay name, a $105 price for a 4.7″@720p will be very nice, but the old readers of GizChina will know the international price will be in the start for about $180. GayPhone not forget that we want 900/2100 for 3G.
The prices announced on GizChina are real but after about 6 months of launching the phone on the international market.
So $105 in… november? :-O

I know Goophone are apparently famous for their supposed clones. Is that really any worse than any of the other manufacturers making headlines ?

Acording to the cited site, it uses TD-SCDMA, so, unless you want a expensive low capacity mp3/video player, you should avoid it (by this i mean it can only be used IN china)
I liked the look of the Goophone X7
So maybe someone at gizchina could point us to a reliable place to buy this, that way i can finally review the performance of the mtk6589 myself (i was somewhat disapointed of the mtk 6577)
