Allwinner 64-bit processors coming to market this year


Chip maker Allwinner are planning to launch their 64-bit chips this year, based on new ARMv8 architecture.

Late last year, Chinese chip maker Allwinner, showed of a new line of processors based on the new ARMv8 architecture. The architecture is the same 64-bit set up that Mediatek, Nvidia, Samsung and Qualcomm will be using in their new SoC’s.

Allwinner’s processor will support 4K video, and will be backwards compatible with the older 32-bit, ARMv7 applications.

Devices such as tablets, and powerful Android set top boxes are likely to be on Allwinner’s radar when they officially launch the SoC before the end of 2014.

    Yeah well they haven’t really fully launched the A80 yet so I’m not sure we’ll see devices with their 64 bit processors in 2014.
