Battery life is a real hot topic in the smartphone world. While phones are more powerful than ever their battery life has taken a beating, so it is exciting to see claims like Qualcomm’s that the OPO can give 60 hours of audio!

In our review of the OnePlus One we found the integrated 3100mAh battery to give really amazing battery life. Qualcomm have noticed too and decided to put the Snapdragon 801 powered phone through it’s paces and see how long the battery would last if asked to continually playback music.

Qualcomm say that they used standard Android API’s with a few Snapdragon enhancements to boost battery life from the phone. You can watch the test in the below video:

If you have a phone powered by a Snapdragon processor I suggest downloading the Qualcomm battery guru app from Google Play. The app learns your phone usage habits and increases battery life by switching off unnecessary process. I have used the app on both the OnePlus One and Vivo Xshot with amazing results.

Now why would Qualcomm go about endorsing OPO?

Andi: Which music player do you use with the OPO? There is only Google Music player pre-installed and it is terrible.

It seems like not many have actually tried doing this because my old 1st gen ZTE Blade can play music with PowerAmp through in-ear earphones (not just a powered amp like here) for 40 hours with a 1250mah battery. Its an easy figure to reach.
