If you’re still reeling from the news that style swap covers are cancelled for the OnePlus One, but still want a Bamboo case, then you’ll be happy to know there is an alternative.
This Bamboo covers isn’t an official OnePlus products but has been designed to slip over the 5.5-inch smartphone to add protection and that sought after Bamboo finish. As you can see in the photos this is an actual protective case made from Bamboo, not a replacement style swap cover. The benefits of this being it is easy to install (don’t need to force the rear off), and actually adds a nice layer of protection, the downside is that it adds to the thickness of the phone by a few mm.
It’s not clear who makes the cover, but we have seen the two piece protector on a number of sites ranging from as much as $30 to as little as $9.99. The case features cut outs for the rear camera, microphone, speakers and physical buttons, and has a foam rubber lining for a snug fit.
Oneplus in this cover can be used as self defense) Wooden brick on the go
haha yep for sure, or possibly a flotation device :p
I bought the same bamboo cover lately on AliExpress. There are fine and well manufactured.
Buy I’m sad to say that I don’t like them: they are too ‘big’ and then you have a big piece of wood in your hand, ruining the design of your OPO. Worst are the edges around the screen…
Nice try but definitively worst than a real SwapStyle back cover imho :S
Not sure this won’t cause some overheating problems given that high end smartphone SOCs do produce quite a lot of heat and wood is not a good heat conductor.
My condolences to the blind designer who created this.
a cover for a nonexisting phone ????
Congratulations Sherlock! your troll has been down-voted.
It’s not the same thing. This is a cover that encases the entire back unit – not a ‘swappable back’. The swappable backs were also available on aliexpress in August/September.
They were?… well, maybe, coz I’ve ordered one and my order was cancelled after 30 days… Never seen them again…
Initially retailers were selling them separately, then switched to selling the device with the bamboo back already attached at an inflated price.
