First look: Doogee Valencia 2 Y100 Pro

Early photos and details of the next generation of Doogee Valencia are in, can Doogee replicate their early success with this latest device?

Back in early 2014, Doogee launched one of their most successful phones to date. That device was the Doogee DG800 Valencia, or for us, just Doogee Valencia. People with good memory will remember the phone had good specs for the time and price: MTK6582 CPU, 4.7-inches qHD screen, 1GB Ram and 8GB Rom, and was one of the original “super-cheap” quad core devices of 2014 (today can be found for 99U$).

Now in an era of 64-bit phones, the specc of the early Doogee Valencia are considered old, so it’s the perfect time for a new Valencia!

According to Doogee the new Valencia, named the Valencia 2 Y100 Pro, will “change your opinion of how a smartphone should look”. Claiming a “seamless design” and “exquisite craftsmanship”, Doogee their newest creation to really make an impact.

Gizchina News of the week

From the picture the Doogee appears be made of metal, but the specs simple say a textrued finish leading us to believe it will be plastic. The overall style is quite pleasing with nice rounded corners and smooth edges, the Valencia 2 certainly looks the part.

Doogee haven’t shared every detail of the Valencia 2 yet, but have confirmed it will come with a 5-inch HD display, 2200mAh battery, 2GB RAM and 13 mega-pixel Sony rear camera with improved night mode shooting. The MT6735 SoC is a variant of the MT6732 processor with the addition of World Mode support for LTE.

Our opinion is that if Doogee can keep the cost to around $150 then they could have a very succesful phone in their range, but we will have to wait and see. What do you think of the latest Doogee?

It looks pretty good, but the only thing that frustrates me in small Chinese brands is software…

Actually Doogee software is pretty good, nearly vanilla android, but with few added bonuses, their screens is what it’s actually pretty shitty, if you add too much pressure to their panels a white spot is formed.

Let’s hope they changed from those “LG” LCD’s to better ones.

As mentioned below Doogee uses nearly stock android and they are very easy to root. I used MIUI V5 on my DG 2014.

    Looks interesting.
But i’d prefer phone with 4,7″ display and narrow bezels.

Design is nice, they could offer 4.7 inch size with a good camera of at least 16MP…13 is so last year.Battery life of two plus days and a price of 150-180$ and I am in.I do not care if the back is made of polycarbonate plastic.

hmm, more megapixels, more adidas??? I don´t care about MPix,just give us a good optics,4,7-5″ HD screen (720P is enough :)),3000+mAh battery,2GB RAM,dedicated audio chip would be for me a nice addition and a notification LED…if it will have all of this,I am ready to change my lovely Jiayu G4S.Amen

Agree with you, more Mpx means more noise and nothing else.
Old iPhones make better pictures with their 8Mpx camera than many 20Mpx sensors out there.
You actually described the phone that in my opinion would wipe all the competitors down if is priced below 250$.
I would probably make it 5″ display though

I commented about the Iphone before I saw this. It would have to be 5 inches for me and be under 8mm. Personally I prefer 720p screens on phones under 5 inches. It looks just as good as 1080 and uses less battery.

You can have a 40mp camera it doesn’t mean it will be good. The Iphone has one of the best cameras you can buy in a smartphone, it is “just” 8mp. The difference between it and higher MP units is it uses a much better sensor, OIS and a host of other tech. At this point MP is mostly marketing like horsepower once was for cars.

I have been in IT for over 20 years and I know how selling products in IT and technology work. Prove me wrong, but isn’t the camera on Lumia 1020 or Samsung S5/6 Superior to the one on iPhone 5/6? Apples HW might be fast, but the quality cannot be compared to the one on the phones from Samsung, Nokia and even LG or Oppo Find 7. For the price of a camera sensor compared to the whole phone, they should not skimp about it. What are the most important HW related things in any mobile phone? Battery life, camera quality and speed, screen, reception. If you get this four things right you have a seller as long as you have a good SW support and some luck with the design. Why does Apple really sell all those iPhones? Because it is Apple? No, because they work. Almost everything an average user needs works out of the box. It is easy to use and almost dummy proof. Syncing works, FW upgrades work, and HW works.

You can have the best company with a bad product and it will not sell. It will sell some time, but afterwards the sale numbers will go down. This is a fact for any company and any product. Why doesn’t Microsoft sell higher numbers of once Nokia phones? Because their OS sucks big time. I could go into details about all the companies…But I think you get the point.

The LTE part of MT6732 and MT6735 is the same.

MT6735 adds CDMA2000 support. That is why MediaTek calls it a ‘world mode’ chipset.

I bought a Doogee a few months ago for my travel phone. It is a very well built phone and it was relatively easy to root. Only problem is they use cheap components. The “13mp” camera (really 8mp interpolated) is one of the worst I have ever used. The Sim/SD card reader failed after about two months. And customer service is non existent, I even offered to pay out of pocket to send it back to them but that was about as useless as a wet tissue.

1949deal have it listed as using a MT6592 with 1GB of Ram and Sony IMX219 rear cam, but their pre-specs are often wrong. Doogee’s software is great and where Huawei and Samsung need barely 1GB to run okaish all Doogee phones with 1GB of ram run like a charm.
