Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 could launch on June 29th

Lei Jun has posted a screenshot on Weibo from an upcoming Note device that will launch in China on the 29th June.

The Xiaomi CEO’s post on Weibo really doesn’t give much detail away about the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. The screenshot has been compressed but if rumours are correct it came from a 5.5-inch smartphone with 1920 x 1080 display. In the top right hand corner we see that the Redmi 2 remains a dual SIM phone and will likely use a Qualcomm processor of some description.

Other rumoured specs claim the next generation Redmi Note will have an all alloy body, 3GB RAM and a 13 mega-pixel main camera. All in all a huge update over the current, and rather old, Xiaomi Redmi Note.

Exactly, 5.5″ is the standard screen size this year, ‘note’ implies it’s a large screen device and should therefore be around 6″.

5.5-inch is enough for a mobile device. they can probably make the overall dimensions more compact. 5.5″ devices only becomes average if you are over six feet tall.
