UMi Iron gets a heart rate monitor

umi iron heart rate monitor

We were pretty sure the UMi Iron specifications had all pretty much been revealed, then today a heart rate monitor has been sprung on us.

Tomorrow is the day that we finally learn the full specifications for the UMi Iron along with the availability and pricing, but even 24 hours from launch the device is surprising us.

UMi’s latest teaser confirms the inclusion of the heart rate monitor built in to the phone. Chances are the optical sensor is located next to the LED flash on the backside of the phone.

As it stand the only feature that we are not sure of is the processor. We know its an octacore Mediatek chipset but which model we are not sure. Other hardware for the phone includes 3GB RAM, Sony IMX214 rear camera, all metal 7.9mm frame and a 5.5-inch FHD display.

More UMi Iron specification details can be seen here.

Very intriguing marketing they’ve used 🙂 If the price is right I certainly will buy this new UMi next to my Ulefone. I do have very little confidence in their software support though..

From my experience with Umi X2 I tend to agree with you: their software support is poor. Fortunately I found a lot of custom roms 🙂

Their UMi Zero was a complete disaster -in my personal experience- too. I was an early adaptor but kept with them till the 3.06 update months later, still didn’t work. Better custom ROM’s came too late for me; I sold it already.

But, lets keep a positive mind: a new device, a new chance, right? 😉

latest 3.10 has been pretty solid from what I heard on their forums, I am with eMax right now and the rom is flawless, as the mobile is. Seems they are improving their game recently.

OK, that is good to hear. Hope the more complex UMi Iron can keep up with the improved game 🙂

Yep, my Dads running 3.10 on his Zero, very rock solid behaviour and good battery life, they’re finally getting their act together…

More likely they are using the cam, assuming Mediatek enables the feature on MT6753 too not just on X20 and P10.

What if they didn’t? What if it is actually a P10? some retailers are selling it presale for $169.99, will they refund the money or ship it anyway? Also still hoping for $99.99 flash sale.

The P10 is not available anytime soon, phones with it are a few months away at best.

Hopefully they’ll stop there with innovation and won’t make phones with a finger-shaped probe to check your prostate.
