Quite a few Chinese OEMs have tried their hand at budget MT6735 phones, including Doogee and Oukitel. iNew is the newest of the lot, with their new iNew L3.
The L3 comes with the ‘full version’ of the MT6735, i.e., it isn’t a downlocked version which the Doogee Y100 and the Oukitel U8 sported.
The cores run at their full speed of 1.3GHz. Along with the entry-level processor, the iNew L3 has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a standard camera configuration of a 13 mega-pixel rear and a 5 mega-pixel front.
Gizchina News of the week
The front of the phone also houses a 5-inch 1280 x 720p display. It is interesting to note that more and more Chinese OEMs are moving towards phones with 5-inch screens now.
iNew has made some stylish phones in the past, including the V3 which was a massive hit. The pulsating LED strip continues to exist even on this new device, which iNew fans would certainly enjoy. Other than the stylish LED strip, the L3 sports a fairly simple and easy on the eyes design.
Looking at the prices of other MT6735 phones, the iNew L3 shouldn’t cost too much. Stay tuned for more!
I have the V3 and still is a nice device. Still hold well for me, and cool to have NFC on it. The only issue on it was the battery that was pretty small, 1850mAh. One thing that changed my mind about the MT6735 is the energy efficiency of it, of course the P version has a lower clock (998Mhz) and most of phones with it have a good battery life, I bet 2100~2500mAh in this one, so let’s see how the slightly powerful version will perform.
Ps: This L3 haven’t NFC, but has an other cool feature IR blaster =)
Good ol’ V3 🙂 Back in da days, it was selling like hot potatoes. Don’t forget about the faulty charging system too 🙂 Makes 1830mAh battery even weaker. Hope they learned something until now, so I’m looking foward to grab one for my parents.
MT6735 + 720P will mean some very good battery life.
Yep I’m pretty impressed with the results of battery life got by devices with that SoC.
The V3 was an interesting device but This Company dissapeared into the limbo for a long time – They lost the 64 bit boat!(like zopo and another brands like these who have been inactive for this period of time)
They remind me a lot of Jiayu, they will release an interesting phone then fall of the face of the earth then reappear with another interesting phone.
IMHO better this approach than Elephone one (one almost crappy phone every week or so)
I think they are both bad. A better approach is what most other small to midsize companies do which is a few phones a year one for each budget/performance group. But the thing they also do differently is they communicate with the community. This is the first iNew news we have had since January. You should never go that long without at least mentioning your next product or doing a product tease.
Good point
I loved that notification led/capacitive button
always complaining !
no device is perfect man ! even the Lg G4 ( which could be if its software would be a lil more polished)
but that would cost a kidney :p
Lg g4 is almost 500 euros at some resselers – pretty good price consudering its the best phone on the market today
Just sayin!
Nice design, reminds me of sony omnibalance.
who?
I do like the look of this design. Will be interesting to see further specs about this phone. Could be a very handy second or holiday phone for me..
The V3 was an excellent phone, probably one of the best budget phones released last year. iNew has always had some very good designs and their build quality is top notch, I love the design of the l3 and hope this a sign that iNew is back.
I’m loving the design too! While they’ve haven’t put a ‘unique’ design, they have added the details that we all like, The rounded power button, The cool light stripe home. Once this phone get released It’s hard for me to not want one. Currently my V3 still great and I think that isn’t obsolete for my use. If I think in today’s offering maybe the 1GB of Ram is already a few, but funnily that was not possible while keeping the low price that V3 was sold last year.
I used the V3 for about 8 months and it was a fantastic phone, it was my travel phone (never like to bring my expensive phones in case something happens). Never had any issues with it. 1GB RAM isn’t much but for me I don’t use many apps so I can get it by with it. I still use the original Nexus 7 on a daily basis with 1 GB.
Had a V3 as well, excellent phone. I should have waited for this rather than false promises of Ubro M1. Phone generally ok but camera is shockingly bad, just complete BS on their part.
what happened with m1 ? i thought they had OIS in their cam?
Well it almost certainly isn’t 13MP, maybe not even 8MP and therefore not an IMX214. It actually might be a Sonny 1.3MP, it’s that bad. As for IOS, not really sure. Lens is also not shielded from the flash (which is more powerful than the sun) so flares ruin those shots.
Rest of the phone is OK, good even, even front cam and flash, so rear cam disaster is strange – looks like they spent more on the packaging.
lol , so they made a decent-ish phone and then forgot about the rear cam ?!
and made that flash into a Flare 😀 !
Take a look: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/l2qr9hv8xjtjh/Ubro_M1_13mp_standard
No wonder Linus removed his comments from the ‘other’ site. Complete BS review there.
oh my … wat on earth , Ubro !
A lot of these cheaper companies will use a good camera sensor but the optics are bargain basement and there is no optimization for the camera so it ends up being just pure and utter crap.
but i heard their phones lacks the brawn i.e performance factor isn’t v.top notch
Well the V3 wasn’t a powerhouse by any stretch it was an older 6582 SoC, but for normal usage it was fine.
Very nice specs.
According to http://www.inewphone.com/en/ProductDetails_l3.aspx it has
OIS camera, dual Gorilla Glass, hotknot, IR, 1.5A charging and 2150 mAh battery. I don’t think it has sd card slot.
yes …
@disqus_VmUBFRsdHR:disqus , thats what I was about to mention !
they have done work on the cam department !
hope it is a HIT !
i heard they also had a Blue Lens in the camera (like the IUNI U2 ??) and a 6-stack lens .. you read that RIGHT , SIX!
boy i hope atleast it’s camera is a BIG HIT … they have done all the good work on optics…
Yes, it sounds really good on paper. Let’s wait for a review. But i think the battery will be a turn down for some. But if the price is right….
yeah… price…
I guess it have in the second sim slot, so you’ve to choose between dual-sim or expanded memory, not add a TF Card slot would be a massive mistake lol
It wouldn’t be the first without it. There are plenty of mid-high end phones with no sd card slot.
On that page it only says “dual sim card, dual standby, dual 4G”.
http://www.inewmobile.com/inew-l3-5-inch-2gb-16gb-phone.html
It says:
Extend Card: Support TF card up to 32GB extended.
Can’t have sure yet, but I hope so, that would be a dumb move.
lets wait…
put a file on the corners INEW
