Gionee Elife E8 gets rebranded as the BLU Pure XL with new lower price

blu pure xl

The Gionee Elife E8 has been on sale in China for months, but it isn’t an affordable phone at 3999 Yuan yet BLU have managed to rebrand the 2K flagship and offer it for just $350!

BLU have a long on going relationship with Gionee. It’s quite common to see Gionee phones show up with BLU branding and sold in the U.S, but this time I think customers States side really have a bargain.

While I was in Shenzhen I saw the Gionee Elife E8 selling for around 3999 Yuan which is about $630, while the exact same phone with BLU Pure XL written on it costs only $350 in the U.S.

gionee elife e8 price

At $350, the BLU Pure XL is one of the most affordable 2K phones on the market today, it also boasts a 24 mega-pixel main camera with Sapphire protection, 3GB RAM, 64GB memory plus room for a Micro SD card, DAC audio and a Mediatek Helio X10 chipset!

A 3500Ah battery seems a little on the small side, but with the latest Helio chips being quite efficient it might not spell the end of a long battery life. Being a true flagship there is also a fingerprint scanner on the rear of the 6-incher.

BLU are offering the Pure XL via Amazon from the 29th September, both gold and grey colour options will be on offer.

Wow, another X10 phone at 2k resolution. What are those manufacturers thinking? Selling a device like that for over 600$ in China must be quite the suicide.

Hi Andi, have you tried the E8? Haven’t been able to find a single review for it. If this is available to ship to the uk I would be interested if it’s any good that is!!

Probably the last to know, but I just saw BLU phones at Walmart here in the U.S. Based on specs over at Device Specifications, should have no problem with 4G in the U.S.

This is the correct pricing for this phone.
Gionee had completely lost its mind with a 650$+ Pricing. (GNEE Tax i guess).
If Blu or Gionee keeps this phone Under 400$, This will be great against OP2, Honor 7, Xiaomi Mi4c, MX5 etc.

Waiting for launch in India. Both gionee and Blu is present in india so o guess gionee will launch this whenever they do. Hope for a good pricing.

        True.
My bad. Mi4c is not really a competition for this phone.
250$ for 16gb non expandable, no fingerprint, 2gb ram im guessing. Also It must be same 13mp cam from Mi4i i guess.

This phone will be a competition to the Mi Note i think.

These parts of “trending now”, “latest news” and “more news” are really annoying for now. It is really difficult to follow all new articles. I hope they will fix it in a while. But let us wait, improvements need time.

      • Ivan
        September 9, 2015

        I understand.

But if that’s not the “finished” product, then it is not professional at all to push into production (live) mode. Should be developed separately on a test server and applied to main site only when ready.

There are some big blocks on top, then some smaller blocks in Latest News. Normal paging is gone. It is just next/previous.

Then another block for Chinese cars.

Next are big blocks for what it seems to be articles in Review category.

More news. Wait, I completely lost the logic. Where is the paging on that more news block?

        Then again big blocks.

At the footer: “EVEN MORE NEWS”. And the best thing is many of the news/articles are duplicate, so it gets even harder for the user to understand what is the logical order.

Aa an UX/UI developer, I’d say the UX is completely messed up. Sorry for the long post.

Looks and sounds nice. Which 4G bands does it have? Can’t find it anywhere. The Gionee does not have 800/900. I hope this one does.

    Also: What’s the weight?

    • balcobomber25
      September 9, 2015

Blu is a US company, so I would be surprised if it had 800 as that is not used in the US. Most likely it has 700/1700/1900 and maybe 1800/2600.

Chances are you’re right. However, I owned a Blu once (BLU Vivo 4.3), and that one came in two versions, one being the “international” version (but that applied to 3g, it didn’t have 4g). So who knows. In the meantime, I found out that it’s 200+ grams (that is: the Gionee is, I’m guessing the Blu is the same), so no thanx, I’ll pass.

Blu sells phones in South America and a few Asian countries as well which is usually why they have an international version. It is the same thing as the E8 just different branding and different bands. 200 grams is about right for a 6 inch phone. The Note series is around 180.
