China Readying Online Television


China is building a national network for online television broadcasts. The platform known as China Network Television (CNTV) will be split in to two different services. The first service will cater to all audiences throughout China where as the second service will provide specific programming based on region.
Once up and running the platform will have capacity for 100 channels of standard definition streaming, 15 channels for HD streaming plus room for 20,000 hours of video on demand programming.
The online network has already teamed up with local broadcasters from Sichuan, Hubei, Beijing, Shenzhen and Shandong.
