Super slim, sleek and light! That’s how we like our ultra portable netbooks to be, and Tongfang’s new Imini S8 seems to fit the bill well at a price we quite like.
The Imini S8 shrugs off the usual plastic bodies of most cheap netbooks in favour of a high quality alloy-magnesium body. This not only helps keep the weight down, but also creates a very durable shell. Perfect for a computer meant to be thrown in a bag and lugged around all day.

The rest of the features are typical netbook, 10.1-inch screen, equipped with Intel’s Atom N270 processor (1.6GHz frequency / 512KB 2 cache / 533MHz FSB), Intel 945GSE + ICH7M chipset, 1GB DDR2 memory, 160GB hard drive, and Intel GMA950 high-performance integrated graphics.
The Imini S8 measures 260 x 180 x 13-21mm with an overall weight of 1.3Kg. The 10.1-inch wide screen offers a resolution of 1024 × 600.
Tongfang have also, wisely, decided to build in 3 USB 2.0 ports plus mini HDMI and a 5 in 1 media card reader. Battery life with the supplied lithium 3 cell pack is claimed to be around 2-3 hours.
All this in a sexy magnesium shell for 2600RMB ($380).
