Ero’s from China have a bit of a reputation for producing high powered Windows tablet on the cheap. Their firsttablet the Eros 1 was one for the first Windows 7 tablets that we saw almost a year ago, and today their latest Ero’s 2+ is a new first for us to, as it’s the first Windows 8 tablet we have seen.
The Eros 2+ sports a dual -core 1.3 Ghz SU7300 processor, 2Gb RAM and a 160Gb traditional hard drive.
Now while you may well be looking at those figures and be thinking ‘iPad killer’ we’re looking at them and thinking ‘battery killer!’. Even with the Ero’s large capacity battery, we can’t see the power lasting much longer than a couple of hours!
Less even if your running applications on it like the ones in the videos below! Which, impressively show the Eros 2+ easily handling Autocad!
Watch the Eros 2+ Windows 8 tablet hands on video!
Ero’s have really made a powerful and flexible tablet but judging by the outward appearance the Chinese company are obviously a function over form type of company, an anti-Apple if you will. Just look at the ugly design and poor fit!
Gizchina News of the week
As is the norm these days for even the cheapest of Android tablets the Ero 2+ has an SD card reader, 2 x USB ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a front facing camera.
But what is surprising is the inclusion of a VGA out for use with a traditional computer monitor and a built in Ethernet for a wired internet connection.
We guess even Eros know that the battery life is going to be so short there will be little point moving it to far from a wired connection!
Windows 8 too much for a tablet?
While we commend Eros for going against the grain and making a tablet capable of much more than many other tablets are capable of, we do think that perhaps they have bitten off more than they can chew, and also may have missed the original point of owning a tablet!
But what do you think? Does a super powered yet ugly Windows 8 tablet have a future in your life?
