It’s always odd when you hear that a politician is ‘worried’ or ‘concerned’ by such things as iPhone or iPads, even more so when the concern centers around Apple’s latest granted patent for the ‘slide to unlock’ feature, but in the case of Taiwans PM we can see the problem!
Taiwanese Premier Wu Den-yih is concerned that Apple’s latest patent win could cause financial grief for Taiwanese consumer electronics companies and their OEM’s.

If Apple were to require licensing for the feature of even block the sale of devices using the feature, local companies such as ASUS, ACER and HTC could be in for the financial storm of the year!
The Premier of Taiwan is taking the matter extremely seriously and has directed the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Industrial Technology Research Institute to look into this matter.
