We reviewed the original ePad all the way back last year and we can honestly say we thought it was a pile of steaming turd! However, a lot has changed since those early Android tablet days, and with more money spent on research, lower component prices, higher specifications and a better understanding of the market, Chinese Android tablets are becoming every bit as good as the models from larger known brands!
Zenithinks latest tablet the ePad 2 is no different! Every mistake the company made with their original attempt has been eradicated and a much better looking, faster, more feature packed and vastly more reliable ePad has emerged!
We don’t know what it is with Chinese manufacturrers and naming their products with ridiculously odd serial numbers, but the ePad 2 is officially going to be called the ZT-280-C91!
As you can see here, the new ePad is a much better looking and finished device than the unit we tested last year. The body is made of high quality glossy plastics and the finish is nice, smooth and comfortable in hand.
Gizchina News of the week
A 10-inch 1024 x 600 capacitive screen dominates the entire front of the new ePad with the typical ‘home’ ‘menu’ and ‘back’ buttons being placed to one side.
Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread is installed as standard, and the OS runs extremely well on the Cortex A9 CPU and 512mb RAM which are on tap. Zenithink have also loaded a custom 3D interface to give the ePad a quite unique feel and also acts as a nice showcase of what the mali400 GPU is capable of.
Flash and HTML 5 video are both supported on the ePad 2, so you should be able to navigate to your favorite video streaming site and watch the content without a problem, and the addition of external 3G dongle support means you can keep entertained even without a Wi-Fi connection.
The Zenithink ZT-280-C91 ePad 2 is available in stores now from price ranging from 2000+ Yuan ($314)
