China’s Ministry of Commerce is feeling a little hurt today after news that the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) has listed Taobao on the world’s “notorious market”, a list of counterfeit and copyright offenders.
Gizchina News of the week
Taobao is one of China’s pride and joys, the site is part of the Alibaba e-commerce empire, which alone accounts for 85% of China’s B2C sales, so to hear that the US consider Taobao “notorouis” in the sales of fake goods must sting just a little!
China’s Ministry of commerce spokesman, Shen Danyang believes the listing to be “irresponisble” and “not objective”, and we have to agree.
There are of course a number of fake or pirated goods found on Taobao, however this can also be found on Ebay in America and even Amazon!
