Got a Sony Tablet S but want to make use of some great apps like Titanium Backup, or install a custom Android ROM? Well what you need it to root you Tablet S and here’s how.
Of all the Android tablets on the market today, the Sony Tablet S is one of my personal favorites.
It features a pretty solid specification including a 1280 x 800 pixel display, a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core processor, and Android Honeycomb OS, plus it is able to connect to Sony’s Playstation app, but it’s the ‘folded magazine’ look and lightweight I really appreciate with the Sony Tablet S design.
However much I like the Sony Android tablet however, there is one way in which I would improve it! And that is by rooting it so to access all the system folders and customize the experience so I can enjoy it more!

How to root Sony Tablet S
Thankfully rooting the Android Honeycomb powered Sony Tablet S is now an extremely simple process thanks to the hard work of Dan Rosenburg.
Dan has a great write up here, where he explains how he figured out the root for the Sony Tablet S, but if you want to skip that and get on with the rooting follow these steps:
- Download this script from Dan Rosenburg. This will run and root your Sony Tablet S for you.
- Enable USB debugging on your Tablet S.
- Plug it in to a PC via a USB cable.
- extract the zip from the download above, and run “run.bat”
- Enjoy your rooted Android Sony Tablet S!
