New iPhone To Get 19 Pin Connector

In a move which is sure to infuriate current iPhone, iPad and iPod users, rumors are suggesting the new iPhone will get a smaller 19 pin connector!

We’ve heard these rumors about the new iPhone getting a smaller dock connector before, but the fact that they continue to crop up so soon to the new iPhone’s launch and that these leaked iPhone 5 covers cooberate the rumor.

According to the following report the New iPhone will utilise a smaller dock connector so that it can make room for improved internals, which could mean a larger battery, improved camera or any number of internal improvements.

It is also likely to generate a lot of extra income for third-party Apple accessory makers who are sure to love the idea of a new dock connector size for their third-party chargers, sync cables etc!

The iPhone 5, Apple’s next generation iPhone expected to go on sale around October, will come with a 19-pin connector port at the bottom instead of the proprietary 30-pin port “to make room for the earphone moving to the bottom”, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. That would mean the new phone would not connect with the myriad of accessories such as speakers and power chargers that form part of the ecosystem around iPods, iPads and iPhones, without an adaptor.

If you don’t want to deal with Apple’s ‘changing for changing sake’ then you might want to pick up one of these excellent Chinese phones!

What do you think? Is a small dock connector really necessary?
