Remember a few months back when we reported on the Cutepad Q5 being the world’s cheapest 3G tablet? Well it still is, but for $20 more you can get this larger 9.7 inch model with an alloy body from Viota!
I’ll have to make a mental note to report more on Chinese tablets as it seems we’ve been concentrating on Chinese phone’s too much over the past few weeks and missing some excellent Chinese devices.
One such Android device which almost missed our radar is this 9.7 inch tablet from Chinese tablet company Viota which offers everything the new iPad does but at a much lower $120! And that’s for the 3G and Wi-fi model!
Gizchina News of the week
But, the fact that this 9.7 inch tablet get 3G at such a low price isn’t the only highlight as the Viota M970 also gets a 1.5ghz CPU, 512mb RAM, a front facing 2 mega-pixel camera, rear 5 mega-pixel camera, 4GB of built-in on-board memory plus a huge 6000mAh battery which should be good enough for 8 hours of contious use!
Viota are planning to launch the M970 internationally later this year, however if you can’t wait to see all the great features watch the hands on video below!
Good news.
I love the ainol aurora 2 and recently got one but it lacks 3G and bluetooth inbuilt so for the same price this could be a good bargain.
Will have to checkout more reviews to be convinced as the custom roms play an important role in choosing an android tablet.
I’m stuck! Do I buy a Nexus 7 or save a lot and get this with 3G…..
aw 512mb is abit on the soft side. also gorilla glass? what about the screen and slots? please also use the chinese (hanzi) name so its easier to track them down. great job in finding those Andi
It depends what you want to do with it. Personally I think it will be enough as I don’t play many games. What do you use your tablet for?
Where can we get this?
Are there other 9.7/10.1″ tablets in this price category without 3g that feature a metal back and therefore have more powerfull components (e.g. 1GB of RAM/ DualCore)?
Viota have shown this thing back in march on exactly the same price point. Things have changed since then.
Now market and technology dynamics is changing very fast, Chinese Manufacturers can’t afford to showcase a product and then bring it to market 3/6 months later.
Having said that, Still I can’t see this thing selling anywhere, Not even on web-shops.
Someone shoot me in the foot if you dont like the soon to be released Ainol Burning/Flame. Google for specs you will be stunned but it’s 7inch not 9.7 nor 10.
Andi,
WHERE CAN WE GET THIS….I would love to own this tablet…. great post!
these kinda posts are weird, i asked my chinese people in shenzhen and i also searched myself but found nothing about the manufacturer! i think they are not making it just prototype and news!! they made themselves famous for nothing, have u got a link to manufacturer ? if not i think u should revise the way you post amigo 😉
i am very interested in this tablet. Can anyone please tell me where to buy.
Who are the manufacturers and where are they based in china.
