Zopo Unveil 5.3inch Zopo ZP900 Jelly Bean dual-core phone

Chinesephone maker Zopo have just unveiled there large screen dual-core Zopo ZP900 phone and its a doozy. More details and photos of this Galaxy S3/Note mashup after the jump.

Zopo have decided it’s about time to leave ‘small’ screen phones behind and have stepped up in to Samsung Galaxy Note teritory with their soon to be available 5.3 inch dual-core phone, the Zopo ZP900!

As you can see from the photos the Z900’s styling has been heavily influenced by both the Samsung Galaxy S3 and it’s larger brother the Galaxy Note. In my opinion its a very pleasing design and one which is likely to appeal to many shoppers who are after big brand quality and performance at local Chinesephone brand prices.

That large screen measures a full 5.3 inches and features a resolution of 960 x 540 which isn’t as good as some phones, but is more than enough for a lower price point device.

Under the large screen and handsome body a dual-core Cortext A9 processor works along side 1Gb RAM to keep things moving while an Android Jelly Bean 4.1 OS should keep avid Android fans more than happy!

I’ve just come across this great phone and asked android-sale for release date. It sounds really great since ZOPO is realiable phone company and this device could be much more “real” than e.g. Beidou Little Pepper. And probably even more precisely made and in conclusion overall better phone.

    How reliable is the 3g connection on the ZOPO Leader I’m really interested in buying it but I just bought the MTK 6577 SGIII from fastcardtech and the signal is horrible.

This is a fantastic news ! I liked this company from day one and stalled my plans of buying ZP300 only because of Jiayu G3. But with ZP900, Im getting tempted again. The phone looks good, decent spec, large screen, good cameras and 2300 mAH battery.And dual SIM (thanks for highlighting my name ! 😛 ). Few open questions still remain though (which we all collectively should try to find answers to) :
1. Zopo ZP300 still retails (online) between US$ 250 – US$300. So this baby should be more expensive than that. Where does US$199 come from?
2. Release date
3. Jelly Bean update date
Additional nice-to-have could have been : HDMI out, 8 GB ROM and may be an overclocked CPU firing at 1.2 GHZ atleast. Not to mention, we’d love it if the phone directly comes with Jelly Bean, instead of ICS. But I’ll take it with the current specs too. The release date is the key here !

  Hmmmm its a difficult one. Lenovo are a big brand and make solid if not ‘Wow’ phones. The only thing I don’t like about Lenovo is they don’t seem to (I might be wrong) roll out many updates for their phones, while Zopo are quiet active on that front.

I’ve asked android-sale, hope they will answer soon. For me is the most tempting is Andi’s opinion that they ” do make good quality phones at a good price. Plus everything they have announced has been launched with out a problem” which sounds like we can have real phone, not just “wet dream specs and pictures”.

The ONLY thing I didnt like about the phone is its screen resolution. A 960 X 540 on a 5.3 inch is plain and simple POOR. QHD displays are fine for 3.5 inches screen. Besides, with ZP300 etc, ZOPO has set a high benchmark for itself when it comes to screen res. And if they launch their flagship model with such resolution, it just might look poor (think about PPI numbers). Guess, we’ll have to wait for a video review.

I agree on the poor resolution for that screen size but I believe they had no choice. The previous hd screens were presumably made by LG, however LG doesn’t offer larger higher resolution screens. However they could have still gone with amoled screens from samsung, but perhaps the shortage problem impeded that choice.

  The resolution might not be on par with similar large screen phones, but for the price ($200) I think it’s the best they can offer. Remember the Xiaomi M1’s screen wasn’t the best screen in the phone world but that didn’t stop it from being an excellent phone and gaining a cult following.

A 960 X 540 on a 5.3 inch is not super but considering all the other Galaxy Note clones like those from HDC & Star & Haipai-X710D/9220 are all just having 800 * 480 that's what i call POOR ok! 😛
My options b4 ordering Jiayu G3 were: THL W1 or V9, Zopo ZP300, so out of those 4 which would you go for Andi?

ZOPO and the MeePad i5270 will be the first two 5.3-inchers that come with 960×540, the highest resolution that the MTK6577 will support. Once MediaTek is producing the quad-core MTK6588, we can look forward to 1280×720 displays on$200-$300 phablets.

I bought it yesterday, love it instantly !
It comes with a 3000mAh battery though, not 2300mAh.
Also, it states its Android version 4.1.1 , but some people say they checked it and it’s actually only 4.0 ICS.
Anyway, really good phone for the price.

– Galaxy note screen is 1280×800, but it’s pentile, so it only has 2/3 of the subpixels. So a 960×540 screen with 3 subpixles per pixel is compable.
– There are webs selling ZP900S model as ZP900. The ZP900S has less RAM and lower resollution camera.
