JiaYu G3 Preorders: Did you get one?

Finally the day has arrived that we can actually preorder the fantastic JiaYu G3 MT6577 Chinese phone! So who has managed to preorder and where did you order from!

The JiaYu G3 marks the first time (which I know of) that a Chinesephone has managed to go viral in both China and across the globe and it’s easy to see why with such a great looking design and high specification at a low price of just 899 Yuan ($140 in China).

If you have managed to completely miss the JiaYu G3 for the past few months (is that even possible?) let me quickly fill you in;

The G3 is JiaYu’s all new Android smartphone set to replace the JiaYu G2 as JiaYu’s flagship model, but unlike most phone manufacturers, JiaYu have managed to give their top of the range phone all the bells and whistles at an extremely low price without any (notable) corner cutting price lowering measures.

For example the G3 has a 1280 x 720 4.5 inch IPS display which boasts a Gorilla Glass screen to ward of knocks and scratches! This in itself would be worth the $140 price tag, but JiaYu have also loaded the G3 with a dual-core MTK MT6577 CPU, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM and high quality 8 mega-pixel rear camera!

Even the battery is a great size and should last a good while as it is a 2750mAh unit!

So what are the catches? There has to be at least one! And yes there are!

The first catch is that the $140 price tag in China IS in fact only for the phone (I know this as my wife is online ordering a G3 for me now as I type), but for just $12 extra you can get the battery, charger, screen protector and protective case!
Secondly is the fact that although we can order our JiaYu G3 phones today, we don’t actually know when we will be getting them as JiaYu is still waiting on the network licences, but that’s ok as JiaYu aren’t asking for full payment yet (although 3rd party resellers are!)

I ordered jy G3 from fastcardtech for 180 USD (and i also add to cart one more batery and case). Hopefully jiayu will get license soon, because i really need new phone with 2 simcards stanby mode. So I paid 250 USD with shipping via DHL and i have also insurance. I know is more expensive than on the manufactures sites, but it is easier to do this way (at least for me). Cheers! 🙂

I did not pre order but I saw many many stores selling pre orders for a much higher prices. The international price is way above US$ 140.
the problem is that there may be so many pre orders that it could be impossible to actualy buy this phone in the next few months.
Also if many people are ordering it, the sellers will raise the price.
With Zopo this is something that happends. The old zopos have lower prices in China but expensive prices for international customers

  @Hafid_Be what about the UMi X1? Same spec as the JiaYu G3 but with a slightly smaller battery and lower price (post coming soon)

I’ve also never bought sth from aliexpress so far but the other guys here told me they use “escrow” (buyer protection) on the site. so you pay now but the seller doesn’t get any money until you confirm delivery. so I guess the risk isn’t that high – except the one it might take some time until you really get the phone….

The other day I tried to register with the Jiayu website, while filling the address, I could not find other countries ( I am from India). So I doubt if they could ship to other countries.
Nonetheles, Andi’s assistant is the best person to answer this question.

Could you also please confirm if the following is true – JiaYu is dropping the retina HD screen and Corning Gorilla glass technology on the JiaYu G3, qHD screen takes over. Still the other physical specs, and impressive MT6577 related characteristics remains. That might be the result of its pricing drop, compared to its initial price announcement which was originally at 1500 yuan (approx. $236).
The JiaYu G3 now has an officially announced price of just 899 yuan; a very attractive offer observing its impressive specs. Converting it to USD, it will just fall down somewhere on an equivalent $142 price tag.

Hi Andi. Just wanted an update if Jiayu have closed the preorders for the G3. am considering getting one but don’t wantto get my hopes up like i did with the M1. If the preorders are too many i guess getting this phone will to into a nightmare.

@chibuy. The youtube videos of the G3 so far a of the worst quality ever!! I dont think the phone itself is bulky as someone pointed out that it probably come with the extra casing on thats why it looks like so. There even a video of someone doing an unboxing in a car! Seriously uncool. Plus its like you cant upload HD video on Youtube from China or something because most videos from China are of low quality on the site. Maybe Andi can enlighten us on the matter.

A bit of advice on Aliexpress, don’t buy from sellers with no feedback! Only trusted sellers should be used and you should do your research as some sellers will sell you something else or not provide you everything you ordered. And don’t for a second think you can rely on the buyer protection, if you’re relying on that then you’re doing things backwards. Aliexpress’s buyer protection will not always side with you.

Anyone confirm that the G3 will have 850/900/1900/2100MHz for the 3G service?
ejiayu.com shows it does, but a lot of the resellers only list 850/2100MHz. I am in the USA and use AT&T and they only use 850 and 1900MHz. I need to make sure it has those before I can pre-order or even order.
Anyone know of any other good phones with 850/1900MHz that would be a competitor of the G3?

for a total of $447. I hope I’m not being cheated. I’m buying 1 for me n 1 for my dad.
Also, about that network license thing. I think they cannot sell in china without the network license. But that doesn’t mean they cannot sell to international buyers. Which is why I think these presell units are legit and will be available by the 15th.
Thats just my opinion anyways. Hopefully i’m right!

hi andi is there anyway through which we can order the phone for 140$. as i hv searched most online websites and found that none of the online websites are selling below 180$. and i searched and also found that registered post or Singapore post just cost 12$ so it means they are adding 28$ mark up which is quiet high. so if there is anyway to get it more cheaply

Pandawill has some strange feedback already from the ‘market’.
“According to the information we collected from the market, i am afraid that JY-G3 has trouble to really get into users’ hands. The main reason is the upstream supplier has raised the price of MTK6577 chipset. It is hard for Jiayu to sell JY-G3 with advertised price.
Yesterday it is the official release date of JY-G3, but Jiayu only accepted users to register without payment. They said they will notify users by SMS to pay when JY-G3 is available. That further confirms our worries may come true.
We offer another choice for people who wouldn’t like to wait any more. If you placed the order for JY-G3, you will receive an email from our CS staff a few hours later. You will know the details from the email. ”
Huh? Why is it i can’t find any similar feedback on the web, and actually Jiayu has just opened the gates for ordering at $140?
