I’ve always like the design of the Zopo ZP500 Libero, it looks like a low-cost Meizu MX or even Xiaomi M2 and has a rather thin profile, so imagine how excited I am that Zopo have updated the Zopo ZP500+ with a dual-core MT6577 CPU!
Thanks again to Fel for this one who found that ZopoMobileShop now have the updated version of the stylish Zopo ZP500 Libero plus listed on their site for just $209.99.
Like the ZP500 before it, the new ZP500+ has a 4 inch screen but according to this listing, it’s improved IPS screen for better viewing! It also features a tweaked camera app on the Android ICS 4.0 Os so that it can take 9 photos in burst mode.
The jewel in the crown though is the dual-core MT6577 CPU clocked at 1Ghz which is surely going to offer the ZP500 Libero a huge boost in performance.
The rest of the spec remains the same meaning 512mb RAM, 4GB ROM,Β Power VR SGX531, 5 mega-pixel rear camera and a 0.3 mega-pixel front camera.
You can get the full details of the ZP500 Libero plus here at the Zopomobileshop, and don’t forget you can also enter our competition to WIN the Zopo ZP900 Leader 5.3 inch Android phone here!
Disappointed it isn’t 1Gb Ram. Camera, not so much. 5MP is fine for a cheap Well built phone.
I am after the ZP900 anyway. Andi, your articles are always well researched and informative. You obviously have a sharp mind. (is that enough sucking up?)
“Like the ZP500 before it, the new ZP500+ has a 4 inch screen but according to this listing, itβs improved IPS screen for better viewing!”
Isn’t it the same IPS display in both models? The original ZP500 has an IPS screen too and If you check the description of the original model, you see almost the same text (most probably the description of the ZP500+ is copy/pasted from the ZP500):

http://www.zopomobileshop.com/en/51-zopo-500-libero-plus-mtk6577-dual-core-ics-smartphone.html
I think that both models are exactly the same, except the MTK6575 vs the MTK6577 CPU.
By the way, will you make a hands-on review of the ZP500+? I have a ZP500 and I love it, but I would like to see your opinion! π
@Toro yep I’ll be getting review units of both the ZP500+ and ZP300+ later this week:)
i was waiting for this too. damn shame they didn’t upgrade the RAM to 1gb as well. add $20 or $30 to the price and make it 1gb instead of 512. they dropped the ball on this one.
This is another FAIL, I think we all agree on this.
Hey Andi. Although this looks real nice, I don’t think I will be getting this because I’m still waiting for the Beidou Quad core. Any news on it? I found this web page about it but I don’t have an inkling about what it’s saying.

I bought the ZP500+ for my wife amd received it yesterday and it is a really great phone, very nice screen, really smooth and responsive, and the bigger thing is that I reveived it by DHL in only 3 days drom Hong Kong to Canada from zopomobileshop π
My wife had a Star x26i and the differences is night and day! the camera app is really amazing, with functions like panoramic, etc
@ Airyl It’s on sale in Beijing but I think it says they are only taking pre-orders.
Minimum specs for phones should be 1GB RAM and 4GB ROM, at least a 4 inch IPS screen, 8MP rear cam and 2MP front cam, 2000 maH replaceable battery and with TF card slot for expandability. Anything less is a FAIL! Personally I like bigger screens as my eyesight is not that good and I hate to keep scrolling left and right.
you can find my unboxing and little review of the ZP500+ here:

@JaySea thanks for that π
@JaySea thanks for that π
@Andi you’re welcome π
From a practical, everyday use, point-of-view, a 2000mAh battery is probably more important than 1024MB RAM… only real hard-core users, who switch between 20 apps every hour, will notice a problem with 512MB. If you think you need bigger screens: go buy a laptop. This phone would be perfect for me, if only the battery was better!
The thing is alot of people won’t their phones for gaming and in that case 512mb RAM isn’t enough and the bigger the battery the better.
