Last week we saw the launch of Lenovo’s waterproof A660 Android phone, which with its sleek yet rugged design would suit most of us with an outdoor lifestyle. Now TCL plan to take on Lenovo with their its new S800 ‘Big Shark’ waterproof MTK MT6577 phone with upgraded 8 mega-pixel cameras.
The TCL ‘Big Shark’ S800 is designed for those of us who like to head in to the wilderness while still having the ability to updated out Facebook timeline, Instagram a photo of an angry bear and tweet how you just survived an attack of killer bees.
The bright orange design of the S800 certainly makes it easily visible if you should ever lose grip of it, but the colour isn’t to ‘safety bright’ that it would look out-of-place as an everyday office phone.
A large 4.3 inch screen with resolution of 800 x 480 should allow for easy enough use even with gloves on (if you have gloves which will allow you to get the touch screen working that is) and a dual-core MTK MT6577 CPU should prove powerful enough for most of your outdoor app needs.
For those of you who will be taking photos of mother nature as it tries to steal your lunch you will be happy to know that the TCL S800 Big Shark has a rear 8 mega-pixel camera and a front 3 mega-pixel unit so you can have ‘Blair Witch’ video phone calls with your friends and family at home.
