I’ve reported on the UMi X1 being the perfect Chinese phone for those of you who want the JiaYu G3 but can’t stand the wait any longer. Both phones offer almost identical specifications, but the Umi X1 is actually shipping to customers!
UMi have gone for a Xiaomi look for both their company website and their logo and while this type of cloning seems to be tolerated in China, I’m not sure how international customers will like the fact that Umi are following Xiaomi ‘s marketing and selling techniques meaning we are expected to pre-order the X1.
While pre-ordering phones is a pain, at least the UMi X1 is actually shipping to customers all of whom seem to think very highly of the dual-core MT6577 Android phone.
As mention above the UMi X1 comes equipped with a near identical specification as the popular JiaYu G3 meaning the same dual-core CPU, 1GB RAM, 4GB Rom, 4.5 inch high-definition screen and, rear 8 mega-pixel camera. The main differences between the JiaYu G3 and the UMi X1 is the battery, 1750 mAH, and the much thinner design.
The second round of UMi X1 pre-orders will begin on the 28th September with prices starting at 1099 Yuan with 3 colours being offered, black, white and red.
