Konka are well-known in China for their persuedo Nokia logo and their low-cost TV’s. They have also dabbled in the cheap phone market but now are taking things a little more seriously with the Konka W960 dual-core MT6577 phone.
Konka have really taken the bull by the horns with their new dual-core MT6577 Android phone the Konka W960 and have not only designed a great looking device, but have also teamed up with China’s Tencent to develop their very own Android based ROM called MUSE UI!
Once launched the Konka W960 will cost less than 2000 Yuan ($317) and come equipped with a dual-core MT6577 CPU clocked at 1Ghz, 512mb RAM, and a 4.3 inch IPS display with a resolution of 800 x 480.
Konka have gone for a rear illuminated 8 mega-pixel rear camera with auto focus for the rear of the Konka W960 while a 2 mega-pixel camera is equipped on the front of the phone.
There are no real details as to what the collaboration with Tencent has brought the phone and what features the MUSEROM has over a vanilla install of Android 4.0 other than they ‘have optimized the SMS experience ‘ whatever that means.
Being a Konkaphone we should see the W960 in shops rather than for pre-order with a release date pegged for around November.
