Huawei first announced its plans for a quad-corephone way back at the beginning of the year, but it’s only now that we are finally getting to see these high-powered beauties from the Chinesephone giant.

6 months is a long wait for any phone but the Huawei D1 X1 quad-core appears to be well worth the time as it come packed with great features from the powerful CPU, great looking screen and rather attractive design.

As you would expect from the name the Huawei D1 XL is a large screen phone, that’s not to say it’s a phabletdevice but it’s plenty big enough at 4.5 inches. Speaking of the display, it comes from Japanese manufacturer Toshiba and features IPS technology+ HD and 330pp!

Giving the Huawei D1 XL it’s quad-core power is a 40nm CPU K3V2 chip running at 1.4Ghz with 1GB RAM and a 16-core GPU, making this phone a prime target for thos of you out their wanting a phone capable of awesome graphics!

Other highlights include a 2600mAH battery, 8GB of on board storage, SD card reader and a rather affordable price tag of 2699 Yuan which converts to roughly $429!

This phone is hilarious.
At launch, it will be outclassed in performance by the monster on the block, the LG Nexus 4, and the cheaper Xiaomi M2. What kind of idiot will buy this phone? If one stays in China and can buy the Xiaomi M2, why would he buy this Huawei?

  I’m a Chinese, but I can barely get a XIAOMI 2, coz they usually release a little, not much, for a hunger marketing.

I myself, as an ordinary user, living “not in China”, after happily finding this reliable, authentic and competent site, would start to expect something that could be concrete – after a while. I mean what’s the use of posting credible information about the latest mobile achievements, if I can not see any practical use of it? You know what I am talking about. I can do nothing, I repeat, nothing from here, Europe with a phone that will be out after 2 months, even more for pre-orders, not to mention only for those who can read in Chinese or Mandarin (?) because the site does not have an English version! And, finally, when I got this hopeful article, starting with “Hey everyone who’s not in China!”, my disappointment comes to surface, the price is $429.. The expectancy falls into thousand pieces. During the last 2 weeks I’ve been making a very detailed chart of those high-performance unique Android flagship phones I would count on (sometime), but this list is just growing with one more unreachable phone every time I read a new post.

  It’s frustrating I know but until the Chinese companies making these phones sort themselves out there is nothing we can do about it.

Quite pricey for an unproven CPU. For a hundred bucks more you can get the S3 here. For a lot less you can get one of the new low cost phones with powerful CPUs but then again there’s a question of reliability (think Jiayu G3). You get what you pay for. With all these tempting phones that come out you just have to wait for awhile and see who comes out on top. Else you’ll get a case of buyer’s remorse.

  It’s Huawei’s own CPU, I think a lot of R&D has gone in to it (it’s been about 6 months since they first announced it) so I imagine it should be a great chip and overall good phone
