Chinese super phone brand Xiaomi might now be entering the Android TV market with a Apple TV style set top box which is rumored to launch as early as next month!

According to rumour on Chinese tech sites Xiaomi are planning to launch an Apple TV style device which will convert your exisiting TV in to an Android powered multi-media device.

Gizchina News of the week

Specification details are thin on the ground but judging by the current Xiaomi phones, the rumored Xiaomi TV is likely to run a dual-core Qualcomm CPU and have at least 1GB RAM. I would also be truly surprised if the Xiaomi TV didn’t get the latest version of the beautiful MIUI ROM which is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

Pricing for the Xiaomi TV Android device is hinted at being as low as 299 Yuan ($47) which would make the Xiaomi device cheaper than a lot of no brand Chinese models and half the price of the Apple TV!
