It’s beginning to look like the cheap dual-core Chinese phone has had its day and is already being replaced with low-cost quad-core models with chips from Qualcomm, Nvidia, Samsung and MTK. The Newman N2quad-core takes the Samsung route and is one of the next to launch and will go on sale in the middle of next month!
Priced at between 1400-1500 Yuan () the quad-coreNewman N2 has a lot of competition from phones such as the Xiaomi M2, the ZTE U950 (Beidou Little Pepper), Huawei Honor 2, Deovo V5 and even the Google Nexus 4 from LG!
The Newman N2 will be available from mid November and will come equipped with a quad-coreSamsung Exynos 4412 1.4Ghz CPU which is capable of propelling the low-cost 4-core phone to AnTuTu scores of way over 12000!
A 13 mega-pixel rear camera should impress Instagram fans and the large 1280 x 720 resolution 4.7-inch IPS screen with Gorilla Glass coating should prove good enough to view the photos you manage to capture.
Other details include a 2500mAh battery, 3 mega-pixel front camera and Android 4.0 Ice-cream Sandwich as standard.
WOW.. now if only it was a full HD capable screen… it would be totally awsome…
Never the less 1280 x 720 is pretty cool too…
I just wanted know, is it possible to root a android 4.0 running phone and install a android 4.1 based Miui rom… ???
Now that’s funny, you can’t see the difference between qhd and hd on such small screen unless you use a bit magnifying glass but you go even further and want 1080p on screen lesser than 5″?? Come on I know people love gimmicks but you can’t be serious about that useless full hd screen right?
I think HD resolution should be minimum requirement for smartphones today due to their big screens (4.3″ ~ 5″), then full HD should be nicer for screen bigger than 5″ like HTC J Butterfly however I think that’s not necessary because you’re nearly impossible to distinguish the differences between HD and full HD in 5″ screen.
I have yet to see a human eye than can see the difference between qhd and hd on a 5” screen. Let’s be real. a Hd resoltion on such small device is a gimmick to cater to the “my phone got this” people. 720p on phone is TOTALY useless
Now that Google sells the Nexus 4 for $299 the target price for Chinese quad core phones should be no more than $200. The reasons to buy Chinese phones almost disappeared yesterday with the introduction of the Nexus 4.
well, I think there still are reasons to buy these phones. My reason to buy another phone than the Nexus 4 is that you can’t put a micro SD in it and I believe it was $349 for the 16gb version.
Another reason could be that the Nexus 4 is a bit meh! Just watched the Engadget hands on…. not very impressive really. Prefer the Xiaomi M2 to be honest!
prefer chinese quadcore android if they provide dual sim 🙂
main reason i choose chinese android phone over a main stream product
The nexus 4 looks nice but with the chinese phones still looks appealing to me.
Any ideas about the avaibility of this (in China) ?
It seems pretty awesome but as this price they need a lot of units for them being realistic to buy. Do you think this will be the case or will they do a Xiaomi tyle pre-sale of ~5 units?
