The current crop of dual-core MT6577 phones are pretty lively devices, however the next generationquad-core MT6589 phones are going to make them look like 3 legged tortoises!
The image above claims to be of a phone undergoing tests at MediaTek’s labs in Taiwan. The phone is said to be running the companies newquad-core MT6589 CPU and has managed to score an amazing Antutu score of 12715!
Gizchina News of the week
Earlier this year Mediatek also claimed that the quad-core MT6589 CPU would be even more cost-effective for the company to manufacture than the current dual-core solutions, which means we are going to see some very powerful Android phones launch in the next few months in the sub $180 price range!
I’d like to know if mediatek will release a LTE quad core chip.
And also if this will support frequency other than 2100mhz for 3g
Benchmarks look amazing
Hopefully, although i don’t think it will have many band lte support.
Btw i am not very knowledgeable when it comes to this but how do manufacturers put the sim slots as one for 3G and one for 2G? Is there a reason? Will we see 2 3G compatible slots in the future? Is this dependant on mediatek supporting it or is it just a manufacturer cost cutting thing?
