Huawei T8830 dual-core MT6517 phone goes on sale for just $104

Huawei have recently introduced a budget phone to their range, which uses the latest Mediatek dual-core MT6517 CPU.

The Huawei T8830 Huawei’s attempt at grabbing a share of the low-cost Android phone market in China, which is now dominated by the likes of JiaYu, Zopo, Mogu, Newman and others. To keep costs down, the T8830 gets a dual-core MT6517 CPU, 512MB ram and 3.2 mega-pixel camera.

Screen size is 4 inches with a resolution of 800 x 480 with a Gorilla Glass style anti scratch layer. Android 4.0 ICS is comes pre-installed.

I can see that Huawei have tried to enter a very competitive market and had to lower specifications here and their, but for the features the T8830 offers the $104 price tag is just too much! For example the JiaYu G2 costs just $100 with a dual-core MT6577 CPU and 5 mega-pixel camera and the newer Jiayu G2s get’s 4.1 Jelly Bean,  1GB RAM and an 8 mega-pixel camera!

Easy there dude! Andi gives the prices from factory (MRSP) many people in China will be able to get the phone at about that price but for everyone else outside China well you’ll have to factor in the reseller’s price, shipping and maybe even import tax in your country so yes the price can never be as written for us buyers outside China but name calling is uncalled for here. Take a chill-pill!!

Andi you do have a point here about the price and what features you get but I’d consider one other thing, it’s the brand name. Huawei has been making phone for quite some time now and they do have a brand.
I think Huawei might even be in the top 5 phone selling companies in China and I honestly trust them or Lenovo or ZTE more than these new kids on the block like Jiayu.
I’m just saying, it’s not all about the specs, it’s also about build quality and firmware quality, firmware updates …

Another fail. Once you get to experience quad core, you’ll never look at anything less.

I saw a g3 logo on the phone and the box, so I’m guessing it’s a tdscdma phone which the 3g function is useless outside China.
Don’t bother getting it if you want 3g but not living in China.
