Baidu are very much the Chinese Google and offer similar services such as mail, maps,
cloud storage,
music and of course search, so it comes as no
surprise that they are now planning their own
Android based
phone which will feature all
Baidu service built-in.
Baidu have toyed with the idea of launching an
Android phone stripped of Google's
service in place of their own for almost a year now. The original plan was for
Baidu to team up with Changhong on a phone, however it seems this idea has been left at the roadside and replaced with the
phone pictured here.
The official name of the
Baidu phone has not been announced, but it seems clear that the
Android powered device will he heavily integrated with Baidu's
cloud services which means
Baidu input,
Baidu music,
Baidu search,
Baidu Maps and more will be stock items.
On the hardware side of things the
Baidu phone is said to feature a dual-core CPU (possibly an MT6577 unit), 1 GB RAM, 5 mega-pixel rear camera and a 4.5 inch 960 x 540 resolution display.
