Retina display prices have dropped over the past 6 months, allowing Chinese manufacturer to launch their own high resolution Android tablets. The latest on the market is the Wei Sijie 97RT!
Before you head off and Google Wei Sijie 97RT let me tell you that this is very much the OEM name. If this Retina tablet does arrive in other countires expect a much more marketable name (and also a hefty mark up on the price).
Like Apple’s iPad, the 97RT has a 9.7 inch 2048 x 1536 retinadisplay. If you haven’t used a retinadisplaytablet yet and wonder what all the fuss is about then save yourself some money and don’t try one, for if you do you will likely ditch your current tablet in favour of the vastly improved viewing experience.
Aside from the excellent screen on this retinadisplaytablet the 97Rt t gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean which runs on a dual-core 1.6Ghz Rockchips RK3066 CPU. This particular CPU is especially good at decoding HD video and should be plenty powerful to drive all those pixels. Helping the CPU along is 2GB RAM which is quite rare but very welcome on a tablet such as this.
Other highlights include dual-cameras, 16GB of built in memory, built-in HDMI out, 3.5 mm head phone jack, micro SD card reader and 1 x USB 2.0.
