JiaYu G4 to get OGS screen and 3000mAh battery

JiaYu’s newest phone, the JiaYu G4 must be getting nearer to a release date, as more specifications and images of the new quad-core phone have just arrived.

The latest specifications for the JiaYu G4 claim the new phone will get a larger 4.7 inch display with the same 1280 x 720 resolution as the current G3. However, JiaYu are aiming to make the G4 thinner than and are rumoured to be using an OGS display which incorporates the touch sensors and screen in to a more compact unit.

It is also rumoured that there will be 2 versions of the JiaYu G4 available at launch. A thinner 8.2mm version with an 1800mAh battery and a thicker 10mm model with a much longer lasting 3000mAh battery.

The rest of the specification includes either an 8 or 10 mega-pixel main camera, WiFi, FM radio, GPS, Bluetooth and of course the latest Mediatek MT6589 quad-core CPU.

    Really? 2 versions?
Why would they do that, if they just delivered the ‘standard’ with 1800 mAh and make the 3000 mAh (with backcover) as an replaceable/exchangeable pack (so you could buy it as an upgrade or an ‘accessory’).

Or will there be any other differences between the 2 versions beside the battery?

it would cost the customer more paying for the standard phone and then a 3000 mah battery, we would be buying 2 batteries instead of 1. 2 model is definitely better.

After a ”rough” start its quite easy to get one these days?

Lots of shops selling it aroud the 200 dollar mark. If you have some more time you could buy it at Taobao like i did (via an agent).

      Price: 174 dollar.

The Jiayu G3 are available now everywhere I look, not so mythical now. All those not getting them there is one particular store on aliexpress selling them (silver colour) for $200 free China Post shipping. I got mine with dhl shipping for $35 more which is better price than the ads on this website.

Anyway the G4 surely will be my next phone if they get the design and battery right.

Hey! Get back the previous concept of G4! This one is ugly, they shouldn’t have copied that extremly prolate iPhone! I believe JiaYu has its own cute ingenious design style, don’t copy anything, please! It can put me off and thousnads of fans!
The previous concept was really awesome, please don’t save on rear cameara! It should be 13Mpx as had been expected. Anyone, please tell them what I said! Thank you!

    My problem it’s the 4,7inch … 🙁
4inch it’s big for my taste… and 4,5 it’s the limit. So this screen with that body…mmm… can have 8 cores but I will don’t buy it. So big for me.

what’s with the trend of larger screens? i find todays smartphone dimensions especially starting around 4.3 screens to be annoying.

I read a lot of books, comics too, and I like to back up and see the pictures i take with my camera and type sms (of course listen to music and sometimes pone calls). To all of those things a bigger screen is nice to me.

A WIDER screen NOT A LONGER screen!

I just got the G3 and I’m happy with it – I think that the 4.5″ screen makes for a pretty big phone – 4.0″ is probably more “pocketable”. The big battery is nice though – almost 2 days on a charge is good 😉

Anything above 4.5 inch screen for me is to big. Future development should concentrate on quality and shrinking phone body to the size of the screen, once they manage that then you can get a bigger screen in the same space as a 4.5 inch phone now. Although the quality of my G3 is excellent just let down by recovery bug which is where Jiayu should concentrate on. Bigger is not always better.

dear andi, its been 24 days since you posted the jiayu G3 hands on, wheres the full review?

    • December 14, 2012

I dont think I give a flying f$%& about Jiayu anymore. They have time and again come across as highly unprofessional phone-makers ! I’d rather bet my money on Zopo ZP800 !
Jiayu G4 will be released in 2014 (if it ever sees the day light i.e !! )
