If you didn’t already know, the big news today is the official launch of the ZTE Nubia Z5 which kicked off at 2pm in Beijing! Now, just a few hours later we have hands on photos and more specification details!
The Nubia Z5 finally became official today in China, and while the phone remains a Chinese only launch, their are hardware features which are going to have many international customers doing their best to grab one!
One of the stand out features of the Nubia Z5 is it’s super thin body! Measuring in at between 7.5mm and 8mm this flagship Chinese phone has actually managed to beat rivals and become the worlds thinnest phablet type device!
Japanese screen maker Sharp have been enrolled in to the development of the Z5 and they have produced a custom 5-inch 1920 x 1080 resolution unit with 443PPi to provided a full 1080 HD experience while on the go! This awesome screen is bordered by an uber thin 2.67mm bezel which ZTE claim to be the thinnest.
The rear camera of the Nubia Z5 is a 13 mega-pixel unit which we suspect is the same Sony unit Oppo are using in the Find 5. While this hasn’t been confirmed we do know the Z5’s camera has a f2.2 aperture and specially coated lens to reduce glare.
ZTE have opted for a micro sim on the Z5 despite the phone measuring in with such a wafer thin profile!
Although the Nubia Z5 is only going to be available in China (officially), ZTE have gone ahead and made their 5-incher compatible with GSM / CDMA / WCDMA / EVDO and LTE networks despite the current lack of LTE service on the Chinese mainland.
The Nubia flagship phone will also be one of the first NFC equipped phones in China which will be capable of making purchases and paying for transportation and it is expect that ZTE will announce cooperations with major retailers over the next few months for customers to make use of this feature.
Under the Italian designed exterior, the Nubia Z5 packs a 1.5Ghz Qualcomm APQ8064 quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and 3000mah battery (conflicting reports suggest a 2300mAh battery) along with 32Gb of on-board storage all of which weighs in at an impressive 126grams!
The standard 32GB Nubia Z5 will go on sale in January for 3500 Yuan while a limited edition titanium model will go for nearer to 8000 Yuan!
Andi, is the back of the Oppo Find 5 made of Aluminum, while the Zte Nubia plastic? Also is the titanium version of the Z5 made of titanium? Thanks
So the backside of the Find 5 is some sort of powder-coated aluminum? It sure looked like a kind of matte plastic composite material in the Engadget & Android Authority hands-on videos. Would definitely make me take a longer, harder look at the Find 5 when it comes out.
