Hot on the heals of the Nubia Z5 launch are leaked photos, pricing and specs of Huawei’s 5-inch quad-core phablet the Ascend D2!
The Ascend D2 is Huawei’s take on the 5-inch, 1080, quad-core phones, which every manufacturer under the sun are currently preparing for early 2013.
Like phones from Oppo, Nubia and HTC, the HuaweiAscend D2 boasts a large 5-inch 1920 x 1080 HD 440PPI display, quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a 13 mega-pixel camera. Unlike the other phones however, Huawei have opted for their own ‘homemade’ quad-core processor names the Hass K3V2 and clocked at 1.5Ghz.
Those who have had an early hands on with the Ascend D2 claim the phone measures in at 9.9mm, which is quite a bit more than the 7.5mm ZTE Nubia Z5, and weighs in at a rather heavy 170 grams. Could this extra girth and weight be due to a much larger 3000mAh battery?
Huawei are expected to launch the Ascend D2 in the first few weeks of January where it will directly compete with the Oppo Find 5 and Nubia Z5 and is priced directly between those 2 phones at 3299 Yuan ($528). No word on the internal storage or the possibility of LTE, but keep posted!
