Although
Samsung's
Galaxy S4 or
Note 3 have been spotted at
CES (yet) we can have a good guess that those next-gen handsets are going to be rocking Samsung's
new 8-core Exynos 5 Octa
processor.
CES 2013 has been a hot bed of
processor launches with both Nvidia and Qualcomm showing off
new chipset, and now
Samsung have joined in with the fun and games.
The
new 8-core Samsung chips is made up of 2 pairs of 4-cores. One set being based on ARM Cortex-A15 units and the other Cortex-A7. The idea behind this is that the more powerful side of the
CPU kicks in only when it is needed, which will increase battery performance.
Samsung claim the Exynos 5 Octa
processor allows for a 70% power consumption saving over the older Exynos 5 dual, all of this while also having double the 3D performance of previous Sammy chips!
What this means for the
Samsung Galaxy S4 and
Note 3?
With the increase in performance but decrease in power usage we could see
Samsung move on to a super thin
Galaxy S4 and
Note 3 while also receiving larger screen with high-resolution!
On the other hand we could see similar size phones with retina displays with batteries that don't need charging every night!
