CES has been full of surprises this year, and the next major surprise comes in the form of the LenovoK900 which is a 5.5inchphone powered by an Intel Atomprocessor. Yes you did read that right, it is powered by Intel’s new recently announced clover Trail+ dual core processor clocked at 2.0GHz.
Since Intel’s launch into mobile phone CPU market last year, we’ve only seen them in low-mid range phones such as the Orange San Diego and Motorola Razr i. But now Intel are looking to cater to the high-end market with their new Intel Atom Z2580 processor. As mentioned above the first phone to use this processor will be the LenovoK900 which features a large 5.5inch 1080p screen, other specs include 2GB of RAM, a 13mp camera and Android 4.2.
There has been no pricing announced yet for the phone but that won’t matter in a few seconds when I tell you all what has been announced. When Lenovo revealed the phone they also revealed an Antutu benchmark score of over 27,000 for the Intel powered phone. Just to put that into perspective for you all, the MT6577 benchmarks at around 5500, the MT6589 benchmarks at 13500 and the Qualcomm Quad Core S4 pro chip (Which powers the nexus 4 and other phones) only benchmarks at around 17,000. In fact the only phone to come close to the “Intel Inside” powered phone is the Xiaomi M2 which has an Antutu score of 22,000.
Gizchina News of the week
In case you think these Antutu scores have been faked, they have already been confirmed by Tech Author and GSM Insider as well as Lenovo themselves. Lenovo even said themselves that the benchmarks are not from the final version of the phone and could be even higher when the phone does go on sale this April in China. When asked about an overseas release Lenovo said they had nothing to state just yet.
From this we can see that the Intel Clover Trail+ chipsets seem to be extremely powerful when compared to other chips on the market at the moment. Intel is definitely interested in becoming a huge player in the Mobile processormarket. They have confirmed that the Atom Z2580 will make it’s way into other phones very soon. It will be interesting to compare this to Samsung’s 8 core chips when they are released later in the year.
OMG! Hope to get hands on this beast soon.. Was waiting for Intel Clover Trail+ chipset devices 😀
