JiaYu S1: 1.5Ghz Qualcomm S4 CPU, 5-inch 1080 screen coming May

Breaking news! JiaYu have announced that they will launch an all new Qualcomm S4 powered phone later this year named the JiaYu S1! Full details here!

JiaYu are considered the MTK champions among many Chinese phone fans. The dual-core MT6577 G3 shook the phone world last year with impressive hardware and a low price, and the quad-core MT6589 JiaYu G4 and JiaYu G5 phones look set to blow away the competition for 2013!

JiaYu have more up their sleeve though and the newly announced JiaYu S1 could easily be the Chinese phone to own for 2013 and a true Xiaomi M2 destroyer!

Gizchina News of the week

Details were released for the new quad-core Qualcomm S4 powered S1 earlier today, which will feature a 1.5GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, Adreno 320 graphics and a full 1080HD 5-inch, OGS display!

The JiaYu S1 is currently under development but if the accompanying image is anything to go by the S1 will feature super narrow borders and is planned for a release on the 3rd May at 12:45!

So that’s why they keep using 720p screen on their budget minded phone…

On an entirely different note, Andi, do you think MT6589 is capable enough to handle 1080p android UI and games?

Meh, i’d rather they use the tegra 4 or qualcomm’s new 600 series processors. Their s4 are way slower than cortex a15 and their upcoming 600 series processors.

Great news. I like my G3, good build quality and good design. But I want a Full HD next. I hope they include a microSD slot also, this is the biggest miss in the Oppo phone. I see that big brands including Sony and LG understood that customers want SD slots, hope that the other will also.

Yeah, because, all of a sudden, the S4 Pro + Adreno 320 is an unbearably slow performing combo.

    Please…

nice move! I hope the price also blows the competition away & they stay on track with their QA/ QC part.

    I’m liking my G3

The 3rd May 2013 is FRIDAY (not “thu” – Thursday).
Besides, this picture was used on ALL phones of Jiayu.

May? Really? Why would anyone go for this if they can choose the Umi X2 which is weeks away from release? Or the Newman N3 which I bet my ass will release way before May.

I am thinking of purchase a Chinese quad core smartphone I’m in doubt between Newman N2 and the Jiayu S1
Which is better? There something better in the same price range?

    • February 21, 2013

As development of the JiaYu S1 hasn’t been completed and the phone isn’t on sale it’s too early to say. By the time the S1 arrives, Newman might haven even launched the N3!
