JiaYu S1 prototype spotted alongside G3!

JiaYu are on form this week! We have heard news and photos for their up coming MT6589 phones, and now we have just got our first look at the flagship, Snapdragon powered JiaYu S1!

The JiaYu S1 represents a new direction for JiaYu from both a technical stand-point and as a brand. Last year the company were known for the infamous G3 and low-cost, great performing G2 and G2S, but it appears they have new ambitions.

The JiaYu S1 will be the companies first non Mediatek equipped phone, but more than this, one which could take on the likes of Xiaomi in the value packed high specification market.

Images released on the JiaYu forum show a prototype version of the S1 alongside the current dual-core G3, along with the disclaimer that the phone’s appearance is subject to change. That’s a very good thing as the prototype appears to be a little on the thick side and is hardly as attractive as the JiaYu G4.

What is attractive though are the specs which, again according the JiaYuΒ forum, will include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 1.5Ghz Quad-core CPU, 2GB RAM, 32GB built-in memory, Adreno 320 graphics and a 5-inch 1080 display with a PPi of 440+.

The JiaYu S1 project will be winding down over the next few days due to the Chinese New Year, so don’t expect the new phone to launch before the G4. As for prices, we are pretty certain they will be around the 2000 Yuan ($320) mark!

I USE GIAYU G3 NOW IN THE UNITED STATES AND I HAVE USED CHINESE PHONES IN THE PAST. ALL CARRIERS WORK GOOD BUT I WILL SUGGEST USING “SIMPLE MOBILE”. THEY ARE A CARRIER USING THE TMOBILE NETWORK TO OPERATE BUT THEY ARE PAY AS YOU GO SIM CARD COMPANY WITH UNLIMITED EVERYTHING FOR 40 DOLLARS. JIAYU G3 IS MY FAV PHONE NOW AND I LOVE THE QUALITY. WILL BE UPGRADING TO THEIR LATEST PHONE SOON……CHEERS

I’m from the U.S. and recommend TMobile prepaid, ptel.com, straighttalk.com, simplemobile.com, all use TMobile’s GSM network.

Please be advised that Fastcardtech will not be trusted by WOT. Aliexpress has an Escrow paying sytem. The pay the seller when you receive the phone or tablet in good condition. You have to confirm this

        Good tip!

$320 is too high, that is more than a nexus 4, it wont sell that well

certainly not . its a dual sim , 13 megapixel camera with big removable battery . nexus 4 is cheap only in google store enabled countries ,here in Inida its highly priced nearly 600 dollars .

      • January 31, 2013

        I’ve heard that the prototype isn’t dual-sim.

You can’t get nexus 4 for that price in china, only select few countries got google subsidized. Also, no other phone with similar spec at that price point, it’s (as of now) the cheapest 1080p snapdragon s4 quad currently announced.

Any cell phone does not pass CTS or not OTA capable the life cycle only within that version. If Cyanomodgen is not supported it is feature phone not smart phone. If the version is not 4.2.2 or plus I think It is a used phone.
