Quad-core GooPhone i5 2 rumours begin

The GooPhone i5 is quite simply the closest you can get to buying an iPhone 5 without actually buying an Apple phone, best of all it runs Android! If only it was a little more powerful!

Gizchina News of the week

Rumours or a quad-core GooPhone i5 began even before the genuine iPhone 5 launched, but now they are back once more, and with purported specifications! According to the details posted in this forum thread, the GooPhone i5 2 will benefit from a quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 processor running at 1.4Ghz, 2GB RAM and a higher resolution 720HD display.

Judging by our experience with GooPhone, we’re taking this news with a large dose of salt. Their GooPhone N2 was rumoured to get the MT6589 CPU but launched with a dual-core MT6577 and the GooPad mini is months overdue!

What do you guys think?

    isn’t the tegra 2 a dual core?

    • February 25, 2013

Yep, but I meant Tegra 3 🙂 Cheers

Very skeptical about this one. A few sites are already offering pre-orders, but the same occured way back in October of last year.

There are no pre-orders/sellers in Dhgate. Fastcardtech, who are an ‘authorised dealer’ stocking the real i5 N2 don’t have this available and have not updated their old quad pre-order… Also nothing on other big sites: Pandawill or Android-Sale.

I would be really suprised if the Quad Goophone was not a MTK6589 based chip. Since clones with Tegra chips are quite a rarity.

I’d love to get my hands on a quad-core iPhone 5 clone and make a review of it on my YouTube channel. Guess we’ll have to wait and see!

I have actually followed this fairly closely, maybe this thread started from the email i sent to you guys with info about this rumor to begin with.

Its actually rumored as a 2.0 Ghz ARMv7 CPU not sure exactly which model. This ad was provided by several “preordering” sites as a sort of proof that it is indeed in the manufacturing process. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii158/zpogo/goophonei5-II-v2-ARMv7-quad-core_zps9e45ef04.jpg . All in all i have no idea what the ad actually says, i can only make out a few specifications of the phone, the ones in english of course. At the moment i have been able to find 4 different sites that have this phone on preorder, 3 of which are associated with each other. . . i think.

I would of expected something like this to start after the chinese new year, true or not. As the factories are getting back to which there is a chance that a new product may be released. This could very well be true as there are many different goohpone factories and no single official site (goophone.hk isnt their official site).

From the sellers whom i have talked to about release date they all say pretty much the same thing, they do not know a specific date however they are expecting it to be available in early march. In all honesty i do not know how much you can trust these preordering site, i have looked at some reviews of chinagrabber/dealsprime/greatgadets and they do not seem so favorable. I am starting to see some of these “V2” phone pop up on sulit.com, a DHgate sort of site. So if this is a rumor, it is stretching pretty far.

This phone seems like a pretty huge upgrade from the current goophone i5, so im curious. I think i will wait till there is a concrete phone on the market so i know the rumor isnt a rumor. As for the pre order site, i will stay away from those. Worst comes to worst, i wait till mid march and the phone isnt released, then i buy the newest available goophone i5. I am looking forward to seeing where this goes, i have my hopes up.

As for some sellers and goohpone questions i have.
Is fastcardtech a reliable seller to order from?
Whats the newest goohpone i5 at the moment? I have seen the goophone i5 v88 on DHGate which specs seems fairly good, at least compared to the earlier models.

The “2.0 Ghz ARMv7 CPU” bit is what throws me off. It’s like the junk put on MTK6573 as 1Ghz (whens its process is 650Mhz) or an MTK6577 as 2Ghz, when it is two 1Ghz cores.

      There isn’t even a 2Ghz Tegra 3 chip:

Not saying it has a Tegra 3 chip in it. The ad says 2.0Ghz from what i can make out and according to the sellers “The Goophone i5 II has the following upgrades: 2.0 Ghz ARMv7 CPU (before it was Tegra3 1.4GHZ). . . ” Inferring that there is not a Tegra 3 inside. We need a chinese speaker to translate the CUP model.

If its a tegra3 then sign me up, even if its a chintzy iphone clone that little chip changes everything

I was going to order one but they only have western union payment…

    • February 26, 2013

Hi Mateen, that’s not a quad core by the way. It’s just an MTK6577 dual core phone with modified build files to fake the phones specs. Chinaecarts are known scammers (hence the western union payment, no refunds.)

Agreed 100%, you can see that they didnt 100% fake the antutu benchmark specs, in one area it still says dual core haha. Never buy anything with wester union payment. He tries to cover it up with his finger.

        Hi Jim,

Thanks for letting me know. I bought the dual core version of the zophone i5 but it turned out to be only a single core it was the same brand alps… I dont know how they can show that on antutu

so the rumers of the quadcore one are not ture is the same “alps” phone that chinacarts sells… 🙁 lol it even said dual core on antutu lol

  7. February 27, 2013

i’m pretty sure that if we see a quadcore version of iphone clone its gonna be with the MT6589. We’ve already seen some phones being released with Mediatek’s new CPU so I guess an iphone clone with it is in line.
My prediction is that like the MT6577 version of goophone, it will take some time to actually see a quadcore version become available. 1-2 months from now; at least!

Hi Martin.. that seems to be the same phone made by “alps” as the one i posted on the below above.. alps are dodgy!!!! that is not a real gooopnone and as you can see it clearly says dual core under CPU

hi guys, i’m really waiting for a powerful model of goophone i5. I wonder why they do not simply canghe the actual cpu, mtk6577, with 6589 quad. I think it would be enough to turn this phone in a great low cost device. I ask you, if the soket is same, why the quad core model is not yet avaiable?
