The Small Cosmic X1 is a 4.5-inch MT6589 quad-core Mi2 wannabe at just $128

Not everyone is a fan of 5-inch Android phones, fortunately there are a few smaller screenquad-coreChinese phones available and one of the newest is the Small Cosmic X1Xiaomi Mi2 clone at just $128!

The design of the Small Cosmic X1 is heavily influenced by the Snapdragon S4 powered Xiaomi Mi2, with just enough differences to make the two distinguishable. For starters the X1 has a larger 4.5-inch 720HD display, around back the external speaker has been moved from the top of the phone to the bottom and the LED flash boasts 2 LED’s instead of 1. They have also moved the volume rocker from the right of the phone to the left.

On the hardware side the Small Cosmic X1features some pretty nice features considering the low 799 Yuan ($128) price tag. A 1.2Ghz quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processor with 1GB RAM and PowerVR SGX 544 GPU run apps, movies and media from either the 4GB of internal memory or up to 64GB external SD card.

Cameras are 2 mega-pixel front and 8 mega-pixel rear, but the camera software the added benefit of image interpolation which allows the front camera to take 5 mega-pixel images and the rear up to12 mega-pixels.

hi Andi
can you please when you describe phone’s specifications, can you add 3G frequency too? because this is importan (at lest for me) because not all the world use same 3G frequency .
for example Jiayu phones are using 2100 for 3G and in Argentina we use 850 and 1900, so i am no able to use 3g signal 🙁
if you can add this spec. would be great!

  It probably has the same frequency support as other MT6589 phones, since it uses the same SoC (System on a Chip) package, which includes the radio.

    Regarding the MTK6589 chipset, I wouldn’t automatically assume the 1900 radio is included. The Cubot A6589, which I would have loved to purchase, DOES NOT have the 1900 radio, though its lower level and older model A8809 . I actually had a lovely email conversation with Cubot directly about this, where the representative asked me, “Doesn’t the 850 band cover the US?” We know the answer is “NO” but they didn’t.
    In fact, FEW of these new Chinese quad cores can be used here in the US due to missing either (and in may cases BOTH) the 850 and 1900 bands, which North America and Latin America both use. I think we may need to band together (no pun intended) and as a unified voice start informing these companies that we need these band combinations.
    In an unrelated side note, many thanks to Andi and others for the tip regarding how to choose these phones in general – as a rule, avoiding phones that do not have a clear manufacturer/company standing behind them is a rock-solid one that I now use as gospel. 🙂

      Well THL say the W6 doesn’t have 4 3G frequencies, but it does. What you need is a photo of the bandmode page from the engineer screen. That’s the only way you can be 100% certain.

        And that circles back to the reputation of the manufacturer/seller. I’ve seen SEVERAL phones while shopping that showed screen caps with the bands I need here in the US, but only much deeper digging showed that in fact these caps were FALSE for that brand. It’s rough out there! 🙂
        Screen caps are indeed a great way to show technical data from a phone if again there is integrity. Otherwise, I just contact the manufacturers directly and ask (which again shows why it is important to buy a phone that has a real company behind it).
