The current crop of Chinese smartphones pack quad-core processors, 5-inch screens and 13 mega-pixel cameras, and before you start to choose one to buy here’s another to add to your list, the Verne V5.
When I first set eyes on the above render of the Verne V5 I instantly saw similarities between this 5-inch phone and the 4.4-inch Meizu MX2. The more I look though I can also see traces of Xiaomi, Newman and JiaYu G4! The combination makes for an attractive design which boasts a narrow bezel and great specification all for just $160.
Gizchina News of the week
A 5-inch 720p OGS display takes pride of place on the front for the Verne V5, with capacitive navigation buttons on the chin and 8 mega-pixel front camera towards the top. The removable rear is made of white plastic with an 13 mega-pixel rear camera and LED sensor perched over the top of a 2400mAh battery.
Moving further in to the bowels of the V5 we can find a quad-core MT6589 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB ROM and SD card reader support. Android 4.2 Jelly Bean will come installed as standard!
The narrow bezel edges and average size battery give an overall size of 141.9 x 72.8 x 9.35mm, that’s almost slap bang in the middle of the ‘Youth’ and ‘Premium’ versions of the JiaYu G4 as does the larger screen, powerful CPU, and low 999 Yuan price tag!
Just from the render and these details I can already feel the draw of the Verne V5! Could this phone be a true JiaYu G4 eater?
