Pipe dreams! At least on the battery size. And if it’s SAMOLED most likely it will be PenTile.

At such a resolution pentile is a good thing. Less things for the GPU to draw, less power for the screen to draw, giving a result which would be all too similar to RGB screens…

The problem you guys have/had with pentile in low resolutions is entirely understandable, but in high resolutions this very “problem” (lower sub pixel count) turns around to be a blessing… So -yeah- let’s hope it is pen tile.

One thing is for sure. The next wont be an LG phone! LG has made a mess of Nexus 4 in terms of availability due to either a terrible demand forecasting, fulfilment or hidden agendas (pushing out their own flagship models ! I reckon the next Nexus will be from Motorola. The rumoured X phone.
What do you guys think ?

    Cheers,

Won’t be Motorola either, Google is clogged by the pipeline of the old Motorola.

I’m just sure it won’t be from LG. They really made a mess of the otherwise good and very much in demand Nexus 4. I don’t think they’re getting a Google partnership like this anytime soon.
Samsung won’t get it either as they’ve become too big as it is. It’s probably Motorola or some other lesser known manufacturer.

This is definately over rated but it will be an lg device- their long wait isn’t lgs fault its that we over exceeded one persons expectation. Dont blame the whole company. LG will make it that is my personal expectation.

From what I’ve heard, the main supply problems were due to Google’s vastly underestimated demand for the device. They ordered WAY too few devices, then couldn’t get more soon enough to meet the 2nd wave of demand.

Could be a Sony device? They have embraced open source and are a good OEM for modders.

Still, I think LG were signed up to create 2 Nexus devices (like Samsung were).

its an arm cpu, not x86, so the clock speed doesn’t come close to lining up

The specs seem to be a bit too good to be true.

But given the specs they’ve quoted, I’d be inclined to get one.

I noticed that they haven’t mentioned the radio (i.e. LTE or not, and what bands).

There was plenty of blame to go around with the Nexus 4 shortages. In fact most of the shortage issues were caused by Google, not LG. So getting the Nexus 5 “contract” might be a way for Google to make things up to LG…

I’m of the opinion Motorola will indeed manufacture the Nexus 5. Google own the company afterall.
Motorola can still produce the X as a high end device including an alloy or (if only) a carbon composite body and a multitude of cutting edge features.
The Nexus would be ‘bare bones’ with very fast hardware and the incoming Android ‘Key Lime Pie’. Sold at a midrange price point through Google subsidising its cost once again.
Should this happen, all the big players will loose significant market share.
Next gen high end smartphones will be 2Ghz or more and Qualcomm already have the 800 series up and running at 2.3Ghz. Why wouldn’t Motorola use it in both.
If Nokia reintroduce it’s 41 megapixel pureview camera tech, a 16 mp camera on both the Nexus 5 & the Motorola X will be a must.
For the moment, I’m very happy with my new Huawei 6.1″ Ascend Mate.
