ZTE Geek is a entry-level Intel powered Android smartphone phone

ZTE have unveiled a new dual-core Intel smartphone in Beijing. Named the ZTE Geek, the new phone runs the same dual-core Intel CPU as the Lenovo K900 but with a lower overall spec.

Measuring in at 5-inch the ZTE Geek is smaller than the Lenovo K900, it also has a lower resolution and lower overall specification suggesting that this could be the first entry-level Intel powered phone to hit the market.

Gizchina News of the week

We’re not sure what the Intel CPU is running at, but we do know that there is 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM and 8 mega-pixel camera on board. The phone also runs Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 with 2300mAh battery.

The exterior is similar to the ZTE Grand S, although the measurements are slightly different and the Geeks is much thicker.

How much did it cost? The price target is very high for a dual core! 🙁

@ Wolf It’s an X86 processor, you cant really compare it to other processors on the market. From what we know though, it’s frighteningly fast and efficient.

Robin in what way is the intel processor phone better than other.
    Are they more efficent?
    More able to get tweaked??
Or simply a processor like other like snapdragon, Arm etc.

It Runs on an x86 processor which is much more powerful than and arm processor. arm = energy efficient x86 = powerful. the medfiled line is x86 designed specifically for batterylife.

Since its Medfield generation – year 2012 – Intel Atom processors are as power efficient as ARM based processors.

Skeptical about this information? Please, read ‘Intel closes the power consumption gap on ARM, Atom competitive with Cortex A15 and Krait’ at anandtech.com (http://goo.gl/HRjq3)

A Lenovo K900, powered by a dual core processor Intel Atom Z2580 scores 25827 points in the AnTuTu benchmark, roughly the same score gotten by the Samsung Galaxy S4 powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor. There is another version of the Samsung Galaxy S4 which is powered by a eight core Exynos 5 Octa processor scoring ~27000 in the AnTuTu benchmark (http://goo.gl/36nlu).

Given these facts, in my opinion Intel Atom processors have a very promising future in the cell phone arena.

Could careless what processor it runs on. ZTE makes the crappiest phones and i speak from experience. They never get the hardware right.
