Exclusive first look at the Snapdragon powered JiaYu S1

It’s a great day for JiaYu fans today, we have an official Jiayu distributors list, a first look at the JiaYu G5 and now exclusive photos of the JiaYu S1! Keep reading for more details!

Until this year Jiayu have been primarily known for manufacturing high quality Android smartphones running the latest Mediatek processors. To this date they have steered clear of other processors and 1080p displays, but this is all going to end with the introduction of the JiaYu S1!

Exclusive first look at the Snapdragon powered JiaYu S1

The JiaYu S1 will welcome in the an all new premium range of JiaYu phones which will run more powerful chips and boast advanced features. The S1 is rumoured to be powered by a Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset running at 1.5Ghz, there will be a least 2GB RAM on-board and yes the display is a 5-inch 1080 panel!

Not much else is known about the S1, but we can hazard a guess at a battery size of around 3000mAh, a 13 mega-pixel rear camera and hopefully a more up to date 5 mega-pixel front.

More details as they arrive, which I don’t imagine will be anytime soon.

I was really interested in the Jiayu G4 (advanced edition), but since I’ve seen the Antutu score I’m really dissapointed in Jiayu… And I’m actually starting to get annoyed with this *Jiayu hype*. They should start releasing quality phones and stop overhyping them (high expectations always lead to disappointment).

Do you have better alternative with similar hardwares at the same price as G4?

Please do correct me but i thought that G4 (2GB Version) has Antutu rating of about 13K,
Isn’t this good? As Samsung S3 I9300 has around the same ratings right?

According to the official Antutu website the Samsung Galaxy S3 has 16301 points. Source “http://www.antutu.com/view.shtml?id=75”. And Jiayu G4 has about 12-13k points. That is definetly not the same rating….

Yea, and how much S3 costs? 500$, or something?

Let’s just take a notice that S3 use chip 4core 1.4 since G4 maybe is 4core 1.2. Beside, it has some aspects which can affect to AnTuTu result. Besides, benchmark is not all things. It depends on software too. Another point is price of G3,G4,G5 is cheaper too much when comparing to S3. It cost 700$ for S3 and maybe just 200$ for G3.

P/S: I have a Samsung S3 and benchmark point around 15K, and I think it makes sense. MediaTek is a budget chip, so its performance can not compare to Exynos.

SGS3 CPU might be a little bit better then the JIAYU G4, but the SGS3 doesn’t have a 2GB RAM (SGS3 has only got 1GB). And lets be honest everyone expected a higher Antutu score than 12-13K. It is a huge dissapointment, I really expected at least the same score as an SGS3.

            @NamTam i agree with you..

Sorry for being little off topic but a question..
Are you using any custom ROM on S3 GT-I9300 ?
I got S3 GT-I9300 couple days back and its running the Stock ROM (4.1.2)
Its Antutu (ver 3.3) is around 13K
            Build Number states JKO54K.I9300XXEMC2

How come there is 2 screws at the bottom of the phone? Can you change the battery on the go?

    • April 25, 2013

possibly due to it being a prototype

Actually I lost my faith in Jiayu and think the same as some users here.

Paying not even 100$ more and you can get a quality phone like the Google Nexus 4. And you can be sure that you ll get quality components, 2-year full warranty (in Europe) and the latetest Android updates, as soon as the are launched. (not speaking about, a better performing processor (Antutu G4: 13K vs Nexus4: 16-22K (with franco OC), gpu, etc.)

I was really hyped by Jiayu phones, but considering the rather small difference in price, and the quite big gap between quality, performance (and I also guess endurance) of the phones, I hardly think that I will decide for Jiayu. Also because of their poor communication policy and behaviour towards clients.

Anyway, correct me, if you think otherwise 😉 I am curious what you think about it.

    N4: 1280 x 768 vs S1: 1920×1080
    n4: 320 ppi vs S1: 440ppi
    n4: 8mp camera vs S1: 13mp
    n4: 8gb ROm vs S1: 32gb ROM

All the Jiayu phones have Gorilla glass too.
