Ramos launches the Ramos X10 Mini Pad, a quad-core, Android running iPadmini alternative at a fraction of the price!

It has taken the Chinese tablet market sometime to launch their own Android running rivals to the popular iPad mini, and we’re glad it has as the mini Android tablets which are launching now not only out gun the iPad mini, put completely annihilate the Appletablet for both price and performance.

The latest Android Mini Pad to go on sale internationally is the Ramos X10 Mini Pad. Like other iPadmini inspired tablets, the X10 features a near identical brushed alloy body, easy to hold small form factor and runs Android OS. The difference with the Ramos though is that the screen size is 7.85-inch, exactly the same as the Apple tablet!

Keeping proportions almost identical to the iPadmini is a wise marketing decision for Ramos, as it means that customers choosing the Android powered X10 Mini Pad will still be able to use the huge range of iPadmini aftermarket cases, covers, sleeves and protective films.

While the Ramos X1 Mini Pad does look like the AppleiPadmini from the outside, what’s on the inside is not even comparable! For example, the X10 features a 1.5Ghz quad-core CPU and 1GB RAM where as the iPadmini only has a 1ghz dual-core processor and 512mb RAM. As you would expect performance on the Ramos is pretty special and reviews are reporting benchmarks of 13,729 on Antutu.

Taking a closer look we can also find the X10 has a better, 2 mega-pixel front camera, a micro SD card reader, 16GB of internal memory, micro USB and a micro HDMI port so you can use most of your current Android phone accessories and chargers.

Sooooooooooooo, how are you going to use cases made for iPad with so much additional ports on this tablet ? It depends what it’s price in Europe will be. Although I am happy do see a neq iPad mini rival every day. Being in the search for a cheap android alternative this is good news for me.

  More to worry: Ramos says size is 200*138*8.9mm, where the iPad mini measures 200*134.7*7.4mm. Cases won’t fit!

Chinese factories need to be more clever. To conquer market they need to use 8 inch 1920×1080 (1200) or 2048×1536 display (there are such LCD panels on market) to forestall iPad mini 2. Instead they uses crap 1024×768 – no one need it now,
Sorry Chinese comrades, but no 8-inch at 1920×1080 (1200) or 2048×1536 – no money from me and many other customers.

What is the source of that AnTuTu score? It seems inflated. I have seen sub-10,000 scores for the X10 so would like to see the site that published that score.

No GPS, no HighRes Screen, no 3G with worldwide frequency coverage – seems allmost all Tablets share the same Specs – how boring

  Better alternative to this ipad mini clone is the CHUWI V88 with RK3188 or the ONDA V818mini with A31 both in the same price range 😉

      MTK tablets does have 3g. In order to give you a better reply, i will point out that a SoC is a system on a chip, that means there are several different chips that performs different tasks on a single die. SoC designers usually design this on modular approaches, (you can even see a simplification of the modules on the diagramas they show). LONG STORY SHORT, in order to cut prices, most makers do not include a chip to support communication on cellphone networks, yet that functionality can be achieved using a 3g usb dongle. And since mtk makes mostly (or only, but other makers are making tablets with those chips) SoC’s for cellphones, they MUST include that element on their design.There are a few others that do include 3g, but as far as i’ve seen, main chinese SoC makers (rockchip, allwinner, actions, etc…) don’t include such element on their designs. MTK (chinese) and renesas (japanese) use to have 3g for budget tablets.

        As a customer, I don’t really care if the 3G support is SoC based or “extra chip” based. I just want it in my tablet, because without it, I don’t really see the point using it! Using usb 3G dongles must be a joke…
is there any 7 inch WITH gps?

Also available in May is the X10 Mini PRO with 3G by Ramos Electronics – priced at $229 through TabletSprint — which also features built-in 3G, a Quad Core processor, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, HDMI, a 2 Megapixel Front and 5 Megapixel Rear Camera, 16GB Memory, MicroSD, Android 4.2, and Google Play Store.
TabletSprint will also offer the full size, 10 Inch edition in late May – for around $270.

wow, a quad core 1.5Ghz and 1g ram !! my onda v812 has a 1.2 Quad and 2g ram and in speed does not even come close to a ipad mini, this antutu values are for nothing, antutu does not even run on a ipad, the only thing that comes close is the measurements and there is no mentioning of the runningtime

  architecture is diferent, also O.S is different, you can’t compare an ipad to an android device, ipad processors are “arm based” but they are far from being arm now (i think they build their stuff over ARMv7), even if they had an antutu for ipad, it wouldn’t be accurate (they way android handles stuff is different to the way ios handles stuff). Antutu benchmarks are synthetic benchmarks of small parts of the hardware (you can even see what parts are being tested) they give a general idea of performance in terms of raw power, implementation wise things can always be improved. So stop trying to compare apples to pears!

ATM7029 Shoudln’t even be considered as a quad core, it performs like a “middle to high end dual core”, it along with the mtk both probably define the rock bottom end of the quad cores. However mtk supports phone fuction internally, where this most likely does it through the USB otg

I have bought this tablet, but the problem is that antutu benchmark does not work on this device.. it crashes as soon as the test starts.. I have contacted antutu to see if there is a bug in their app, but they knew about the problem with many ramos tablets.. they said ramos cheats in their specs, and then does not allow antutu benchmark to perform.. even the 5MP camera, I have my doubts about it.. it gives an image size of a 5MP image but in reality it does not have the quality of a 5MP camera.. but on the other hand.. I have installed Ashalt 7 and Real Racing, and they work like a charm.
overall I am pleased with the tablet. the only thing I hate is that I can’t use my external SD card to install apps on, so I probably will have to root it.
