Meizu MX3 renders show curved display and tapered body

Nice idea, should make it easier to hold. But one need true oled display to do that and there’s no way that the chinese phone maker who usually ride the waves of the big player innovation would use that for their phone.

That would make for a lovely back of a phone. No way it’s comfortable to hold/use with that bulge as a front and flat back (just flip over an older iPhone and try it)

A curved display is one of those features that looks good on paper, but in reality would be a disaster because of the viewing angles. Imagine playing a game or watching a movie on a convex display — umm, no thanks. Even if it’s a super IPS display with extreme viewing angles, you’d still encounter the problem of skewed perspectives (no matter how slight, it’s still a distraction IMHO).

So, no, I don’t think we’ll be seeing displays with that much curvature as seen in the concept phones. If anything, maybe we’ll get a 1% slope curvature, or a flexible display (more much practical).

After all that it took tv’s to get a flat screen now we are going back and get curved displays on cellphones? Seems odd.
