White JiaYu G4 available from May 6th in limited numbers

JiaYu have announced that the white, large battery version of the JiaYu G4 Youth will be available from 6th May.

JiaYu began selling the black version of the JiaYu G4 on April 28th and customers lucky enough to have secured one are expected to receive the phone in just a few days. The white version will be up for pre-order at 12:30 on May 6th (tomorrow) with the phones arriving around 7 days later.

As with the black phones, there will only be 2000 phones available all of which will have the larger 3000mAhbattery and 1GB RAM. The white model is actually slightly more expensive too at 1029 Yuan, however the first 2000 phones will come with a free leather case and wood-look headphones.

So Jiayu G4 can basically kiss my @ss
it could be my first chinese mid range phone but they’re just let’s say.. amateurs i’ll take another one then ( ^-^)

Hi Andy,
please can you explain?
There is in the left and the right generals the G4 youth (?) modell.
Only difference is in the right section RAM with 2 GB.
But ROM is 4GB too?
Could it be that there should be in the right section the advanced modell with 32GB ROM?

Andy there is a typo in the specs table. The one on the right should read G4 advanced instead of youth.
There is so much hype regarding this phone which are the other contenders apart from to my knowledge::

If Umi x2 comes true to the release date of May 15th I bet only die hard fans will still wait for Jiayu advance to release. I know I wont.

  I don’t think so. They have still not set any given date for the release. Look at it this way even they don’t have a release date for the “lite” version. WTF is 2000 units limited edition being sold.
  Have you seen their statement where they said the “lite” versions being sold are not finished products and can have defects? Check their ejiayu website and use google translate. Jiayu are horrible, from how I see it they are being rushed to sell these 2000 units because their competitors scare them. Rubbish business tactics.
  I’m currently leaning on the Umi X2 (hate 1080p screen and 5 inch) but all the other competitors seem to not stick to plan. They have set May 15th for worldwide sale and not some limited sales so here is to hoping they don’t mess up like I know they will anyway. Huhhhh!!!!

160$? Is this right price for advanced version? Both versions have a same price, but one of them with 1 GB RAM, another – 2 RAM?

Why is there so much hype about Jiayu, was the Jiayu G3 that good. I have seen pics of a Jiayu G6 prototype. How can they have that if they havent even launched the G4. I don’t know much about Umi, but the Newman N2 was supposedly good quality, so Newman K1 should also be of similar if not better quality.

  It’s a nice phone but not to my taste because of the “clone”. Hehe I don’t know about you but the Jiayu, Umi, Neo etc brands at least change something tiny with their designs.
  We had a debate on here last year about why we hate clones even though almost all the Chinese phones are clones and there were varying opinions. Each to their own but you can agree with me that you don’t want “HDC” or “SUNY” etc written boldly on your beautiful phone. 😀
  Consider these if you want to invest in a Chinese phone though
  a. Battery capacity
  b. Price (would you invest more than $300 into a phone which will might not even be able to ship back for replacement)
  c. RAM/ROM sizes
  d. Support
  e. Screen size

  amazing , when I see this super quad phones with there super antutu number, but when I look at my old samsung s2 with a simple dual core it still reacts a lot faster on everthing I do on it, then this chinese superphones and I get a real warranty and service and a occasional update on it an it does not cost much more this days, so why buy one of this trow away phones

  Don’t believe the benchmark score for this clone, as the resolution is listed as 1080p, but the seller claims it is only 720p, which would make me believe the score is fake. Non-removable battery is a deal breaker for me with anyphone, The G4 ticks all boxes, under 5″, 720p (Those 1080p phones, seem to have lower benchmark scores) 3000mAh battery. I’ll wait as long as it takes for this to hit the stores.

Yes I agree, you raise good points. I would prefer a branded phone, to a clone. I actually bought a clone of a Samsung GS3 about 6 weeks ago, it stopped making phone calls after 3 weeks usage (the company has since gone out of business). Apparently Goophone is the most notorious clone maker.
I think in your comments earlier though the specs of the Umi X2 are better than Jiayu G4. The waiting game continues.

  The G3 was good. Arguably the best dual core MTK 6577 phone by a Chinese company if you factor in battery, screen, and price. Those 3 things are my most concern when buying a Chinese phone. Yes I also do consider the support base for roms and fixes but the Meizu and Xiaomi are a bit pricier for me to consider them as Chinese phones because this is a gamble really (these are not returnable goods to spend much on)… lol
  Jiayu does have the habit of disappointing customers precisely with release dates. It happened from April 2012 till the G3 released in late November 2012. Even then there were shortages and price hikes. Now the G3 is $180 on aliexpress. Imagine a company that took 1 month to get a license to start selling their phones and ask yourself how that is even possible. Like their marketing division forgot “oh we can’t sell this phone even if it is ready”. Haha but Jiayu does really deliver when their phones are actually out though. The quality and price is second to none.
  Now you mentioned the Newman N2, that is a wonderful phone and no doubt you will love it. The K1 I have only seen some videos on youtube but for that price and 1GB/4GB specs I wont even bother when other brands are there with a bit higher specs.
  Umi X1 was/is a wonderful phone. I believe there was a promotion by Andi on here sometime last year which “I SHOULD HAVE WON”…haha. Makes you have the slightest faith that the x2 will be excellent. They are also not straight forward about their release dates and just last week or so announced May 15th as the worldwide release date. I emailed the company whose video review is above showing the HTC Butterfly clone sometime last week about release date for Jiayu G4, and he told me sometime middle of May. He also said he thought the Umi X2 is a better buy in his opinion. Thankyou for your responses above, you obviously have a wealth of knowledge :). Yes Xiaomi, Meizu & i’m sure Oppo must be trully bespoke brands, which hopefully one day I shall try.

Hello Andi, really loving your website.
I came across this website about a month ago, and has been visiting daily since.
I never knew that Quality Chinese Phones exist at such low prices.
Keep up the Good Informative work up!!
I am looking forward to getting one myself, but i am really concerned about their screen Quality.
It would be really Nice if you can compare the Screens of this Phones with High End Android Phones, Like One X or Galaxy S3 – S4, One. The Viewing Angles, Brightness, Contrast, Colour Accuracy, Gamut Etc??

Based on my experience with the Jiayu G3, and seeing as it is still quite up to any task (I) throw at it – I will probably be waiting for the 3Ah/2GB edition of the G4. Even if that means waiting a while. What I love about the G3 (and the G4 looks to be very similar in that aspect), is that it is the first phone I’ve handled in years, that actually feels strong and solid in your hands. A genuine Samsung GS3 is so thin and frail it feels like I could snap it accidentally.
I still have little eye on the Xiaomi Mi2 as a backup plan though – the build seem very sturdy.

I’ve seen a site (achinaseller . com), having continously been claiming to have the 2gb ram/32gb int/3000mah in stock since LATE JANUARY. They ONLY take western union / wire transfer as payment (atleast for this phone – obviously, as they couldn’t have been selling what doesn’t exsist – and PayPal would have a fieldday on their asses, maybe already did). STAY CLEAR OF THIS SELLER – They have obviously been scamming people for over 3 months already, so spend your money somwhere safer.
