Apple might be gearing up to launch the iPadmini 2 with rumoured quad-core processor and higher price tag, but we don’t need it as the Cube U35GT gives us similar styling, quad-core power, and the flexibility of Android at an affordable price right now!
Chinese tablet maker Cube produce some of the nicest Retina display Android tablets currently on the market, but not everyone is interested in buying a 9.7+ -inch tablet and lugging it about on their travels, so Cube have launched the 7.85-inch Cube U35GT minitablet.
Gizchina News of the week
Cube have decided to go down the “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it” route to designing the U35GT and have stuck to an iPadmini style body with alloy rear case, but have removed the physical home button and added expansion ports for an SD card reader, Micro USB, and mini HDMI.
A front facing camera is included, but no rear, which personally suits us better as our current phone cameras are better than a tablet for taking photos anyway. Under the 202 x 135 x 8mm exterior is a 4000mAh battery (good for up to 6 hours use), 16GB ROM, 1GB RAM and a 1.6Ghz quad-core Rockchip RK3188 CPU!
The Cube U35GT is on sale now for $189.98 though online reseller Lightake.com.
I would like to see the 6 hours use with a cheap 4000mah battery, I think you are VERY lucky if you get halve of it
I guess it all depends on usage, the 28nm A9 structure have proven a good power/performance balance. Retina screens are draining those batteries with a pretty fat straw though. Could be 4000 mAh 7,4 volt (2x4000mAh 3,7 volt cells – but highly unlikely in such a “small” tab.
Get the new Novo 8 Discovery — it has Bluetooth and the Cube doesn’t
Also, you can get the new Discovery and a few other new Tablets that came out this month at a site called TabletSprint
Why do so many tablets come without gps as they would make for good in car navigation.
I haven’t seen a RK3188 tablet with gps yet, and that SoC is pretty much “the sh#t” right now. I wouldn’t stress it too much though. Signal and battery wise, you would probably be better off anyway with a external bluetooth GPS module, they can be had fairly cheap.
A lot of todays tablets struggle with weak signals (wich makes adding an aluminum backing such a “”great” idea).
