Neo N003 will launch with updated 1.5Ghz MT6589T Turbo chipset

With just 5 days to go before the quad-core, 1080, Neo N003 is set to go on sale, Neo have announced they will update the phone with a faster 1.5Ghz Turbo chipset!

Sales for the Neo N003 will officially begin on June 25th, almost a month later than flagship phones from JiaYu and Umi already launched, however this extra wait has allowed Neo to prepare a phone with all the features customers have been crying out for rather than a half-baked product (see JiaYu G4 first batch with no OTG).

The surprise though is that Neo have eventually decided to launch the N003 with the updated 1.5Ghz MT6589T chipset! So although later to the market than others, the N003 will actually be one of the first Turbo phones available with 2GB RAM!

Actually the N003 is shaping up to be one of the more feature packed Chinese Android smartphones of the year. As we already know the display is a 5-inch 1080 OGS unit with narrow 2.78mm bezels. There will be an option of either 1GB or 2GB RAM, both models will get Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, OTG, MHL, 3000mAh battery, Yamaha audio chip and 13 mega-pixel rear camera with F/2.2 aperture.

The flagship version of the N003 will cost 1499 Yuan here in China which is the same as the UMi X2, so international customers can expect to pay around $300 for the N003 when it becomes available.

Woo hoo! Thank god I waited for this instead of going with the alternatives (iOcean / Umi).

NEO is my first choise among 5” FHD QuadCores. Because it’s good looking, material used doesn’t look cheap, specs are good, it is from a reliable company and after all it is cheapest of all.

Their a bit too late. If they confirmed that they were going to release the mt6589T version, i would have got that. But then…I’ve already went ahead with the UMI X2 Turbo instead.

  owh well. i was chatting with the admin’s in the official neo forums. i didn’t like the way they ignored every comment regarding the upgrade. 0 news. nothing. When the mt6589T was announced. the whole forums was about nothing but that. And they just didn’t confirm nothing.

I’m definitely in. Can’t wait. I wish they add a silicone bumper or some sort of cover in the box, and a spare battery 🙂 Or add them as accessories.

  The ZTE V987 is one of the only viable devices supporting wcdma on 900. The nanufacturer is one of the largest in the world plus developers are creating alternate firmware versions for it. I have so far not come across anything comparable.

    Lenovo A820 also supports 900WCDMA, i have A820 tested ( Poland, Aero2 is using 900mhz )

        Umi doesn’t support aero. If you want to use aero, ZTE is the best choice i think.

Ha! Quite a better option than UMI X2!! Yamaha audio, 30pc faster performance, better looking and no fake promises! Only lacking thing seems to be a protective glass but that can’t be a deal breaker! If I can get the flagship in the 250$ range, I’ll go for it!

It’s more a hands-on than a review, but still interesting. The unit shown is not the final version, as the presenter mentions. He also says it will come out next month. Everything seems nice and smooth, and the camera is promising.

Hello, afaik relase date got delayed 1 month we had a private big sale directly with neo to individual buyers and last week they told us it got delayed.
But what is worse they already sold the frist batch and it seems they made the pre-sell to local resellers, don`t know how long it will take to see this phone with a normal price for international buyers.
My advice is to find a new device, they nerferd youth version from 8gb to 4gb relase date got delayed 2 times already.

here is what i recived from lighttake :
” A bad news: NEO cell phone will delay to July 25th, 2013.
But it will update to MTK6589T Turbo from MTK6589 Quad Core processor. ”
so, all N003 will have Turbo 6589, and will be relased a month later… i paid 170$ for that crappy 4gb rom version, but i will wait 😉
